Israel disgusts me.

I am appalled at what both sides have done and to me they are both terrorists, not one better than the other. But to kill so many innocent children and women is unconscionable and unforgivable and for this i will not ever be able to look at Israel the same. They are heartless and ruthless and their the Palestinian lives are less valuable than the Jewish ones.

My brother lives in France and said it is very alarming what is happening right now with the antisemitism in France and we see it in Europe in general, their actions are creating undue tensions for the Jewish people. It is quite tragic.
Would it be a tragedy if American blacks were attacked in France for the actions of its President? Would it be a tragedy for Muslims to be attacked in Great Britain solely for the actions of the Muslim Brotherhood? Would it be a tragedy for my next door Jewish neighbor to have a swastika painted on their garage in retaliation for the actions of the Israeli government (and you eff with them, you eff with me and I'm not Jewish)?

So when do we stop resulting to physical confrontation outside of Israel? When do people learn to control themselves no matter how passionate of a dislike for an ethnic group?

Not Jeff, of course, but I think there is a huge difference between anti-Semitism (and Arabs are semites by the way) and being anti-Israel (or critical of Israel). I have absolutely no problem with Jews and Judaism, but I have very strong objections to Israeli policy and American support of that policy.

Arabs are Semites on the basis that they speak a Semitic language. but, anti-Semitism refers specifically to anti-Judiasim. Palestinians suffer from prejudices against them, but -- so far -- those prejudices don't have specific labels. I do think that is is all too common to use claims of anti-Semitism as a cop out in response to anti-Israel or even neutral attitudes. See the Don Lemon thread, for instance. There is a school of thought that if you criticize Israel, but cannot conclusively demonstrate that you have also criticized every other nation that has done anything bad, you are anti-Semitic. That just ignores human behavior. But, nevertheless, there are plenty of indisputable examples of anti-Semitism and we all need to combat that regardless of our position on the conflict.

Turning this into a discussion of anti-Semitism is a diversion straight from the Israeli playbook. Israel would be a disgusting country regardless of the religion of its leaders, because it disregards international law more than any other country and murders civilians.

The narcissism of those who want to suggest that our major concern right now should be to nip a resurgence of anti-Semitism is the bud have their priorities very misplaced. Save the dying kids in Gaza first.

If 6 million of your people were systematically exterminated you would want to nip discrimination (in this case anti-semitism) in the bud too!

I think you prove PP's point.

Would you say America, right or wrong, is looked at as a disgusting country by some outside regardless of the religious beliefs of its leaders, because America has displayed disregard for international or the laws of countries and engaging in murdering civilians in wars?

Narcissism aside, of course.

Yes, but they are going about it in the wrong way. You don't have to have your own country to "nip" it in the bud. And that country does not have to act like grandpa with no manners at the dinner table. Israelis seem to have no decorum. That is not helping the cause.

The priority of the Jews should be to prevent the resurgance of anti-semetism-after the Holocaust I can't blame then. Should kids in Gaza die-no-but neither should millions of Jewish kids.

Can you explain how "millions of Jewish kids" are currently at risk? Because all current events point to being Gazan as being the biggest mortality risk.

Right now, they are putting kids bodies in ice cream coolers because they ran our of room .Some people call Hamas Terrorists and some call them Heroes. Some call Israel a terrorist state and some call it a legitimate state. Children are children, if you kill them intentionally and try to justify the reasons behind doing that, then everybody will call you a terrorist. Period.

What's it like being Muslim? Well, it's hard to find a decent halal pizza place and occasionally there is a hashtag calling for your genocide...

Of course children have priority. That is undisputed. There is no diversion of the conflict when it is the 500lb gorilla in the room; however, make so mistake that anti-semitism, unfortunately, helps feed this conflict, in and out of Israel. Israel is NOT blameless, believe that. But if you think that the majority are thinking this is just about the abhorrent behavior of some folks who live in Israel against Palestine WITHOUT the Jewish label, you are mistaken.

As far as out of a Israeli playbook, every country on this earth has used a playbook to subjugate their people economically or socially or militarily. Period.

The fight to stop the killing in Gaza is not mutually exclusive from fighting anti-Semitism. We can and should do both. To the contrary, fighting the dehumanization of Palestinians and Jews is a common battle.

I think a big part of it is not anti-Semitism per se, but anti-religious state. That goes against American beliefs for sure.
