The school purports to be diverse. Not sure since no DC attend. But that's a claim one would think that schools should not make lightly?

This is the pinnacle of WASPy socializing. More prestigious schools have a higher Jewish and Asian enrollment, which reduces the WASPyness.

Pomona, Baylor

Are Mormons considered WASPs? If so, BYU.

It's the kid that wants to go to school in New England in the 1950s. He just can't let his fantasy of an all white campus go.

Seems like a reasonable view...as long as the parent doesn't intentionally insert themselves into the process to make it happen. WASPy colleges simply are not for everyone. Trick is which are the WASPy colleges?

You don't understand. If a WASP wants her daughter to marry only a WASP, then she's a bigot. If a Jewish parent wants their kids to marry only a Jew, then that's ok.

USC has a substantial "preppy"student population, but is about as far from WASPY as possible - the Catholic, Asian and Jewish student populations all outnumber the Protestant student population.

I think many confuse "preppy" and WASPY

Many Catholic schools are preppy (Georgetown, Villanova, BC) but I wouldn't call any WASPy

Few of the top 50 schools are that homogenous anymore. Those schools are sought after and compete for the best and brightest from all backgrounds. They have generous endowments that allow them to offer good need based aid and scholarships. Duke, Princeton, even Dartmouth are all examples of schools that may have been traditionally waspy but are now much more diverse. Which, in my view, is a good thing.

Diversity is a joke

Paleo-con is back. I'll be glad when he finally goes to college and finds something else to fret about.

And so are you, my friend. A big one. I, for one, will be glad when you tire of DCUM.
