The people, the stores the taste level...its beautiful but a little stuffy for me personally any my daughter who is Italian always talks about it being waspier lately...not sure how it compares to other schools though but I can say the area (Main Line) is definitely very waspy.

Yes, it may be preppy, but WASP stands for white Anglo-Saxon PROTESTANT. Which means that it does not include Catholics. Sorry!

waspy or not, villanova is 'hottie'.

i grew up in PA and I have never known an 'ugly' villanova student/grad.

do they only let in attractive people?

No, but since you grew up in PA you wouldn't know the difference.

Uh PA is home to the Main Line aka one of the wealthiest areas in the entire country. That whole area is filled with attractive people. Guess living in DC must really be getting to your head. You really should get out more!

Anyway, years ago Villanova was ranked the #1 most attractive student population in the country by Playboy Magazine.

I've never lived in Philly, but based on people I've met in this area with Philly roots, I think they are a good looking bunch. Pittsburgh? Not so much.

We were actually looking FOR a Waspy college? Is there a problem with using that as one of the selection criteria?

Seems as if virtually ALL of the New England SLACs have a large WASP presence.

Not OP, but I do feel that for students who are not Jewish, attending a school where there are many Jewish students can make dating difficult. Even today, many Jewish parents want their children to marry Jews, which can make things rather unpleasant.

So which schools have a significant clannish Jewish vibe?

Anonymous wrote:Yeah Villanova is EXTREMELY Catholic. Therefore, not waspy. Very white. Very expensive. Very blue blood/old money. Very preppy. Waspy? Not so much

Williams is excluded? Likely due to their strenth in diversifying?

A lot of Asian interest in Williams.

And too dumb to get in anywhere else

quote=Anonymous]Yeah nova isn't really waspy. Just a good school for rich white kids who end up on Wall Street.

The "clannish" trope is a very old anti-semitic slur.

Wow, I suppose this thread was destined to be offensive.

Check out the the thread from the Mom wwho is worried about her daughter going to NYU because there are too many jews. And she insists she has lots of friends who are jewish. My guess is she is on here as well.
