Me too. I liked them. No nonsense.

I had a horrible experience with the practice when they had to deliver bad news to me (including multiple unreturned phone calls relating to the issue). Switch! There are plenty of metro accessible ob practices.

I realized that a long time ago!!!

I have been pleased through three pregnancies, one of which ended with a termination. Dr. Johnson, whom I never saw before, was the doctor that delivered the bad screening results to us. She treated us with the utmost respect and sympathy, calling to check in on the results of the CVS and then again after the termination, just to see if I was OK.

Then with my next pregnancy, Dr. Maungman (my regular doctor) was very understanding about how emotionally difficult the first few months would be and was very sensitive to my needs as far as answering questions, providing data, etc. Even the sonographer was extra sensitive during the first ultrasound, during which I cried the whole time and refused to look at the screen.

I realize that others have had different experiences but everyone I dealt with was wonderful during a very difficult time.

+1 . I had basically the same experience. I think the waiting room has gotten way better in the last year. They will email test results now. They have been sympathetic and supportive through not only my many losses, but my two successes.

I certainly would never want to be in the OBGYN business. Every pregnant woman in their mind (and understandably so) is the only pregnant woman ever. I was grumpy at the wait at one of my appointments last year until I saw the tear stained couple come out who had clearly been given news that I had also heard in the past.

I have healthy babies, and at the end of the day, that's what mattered.

I have been to RH and several other gyno /OB practices around DC and guess what! ... There are all the same ... Overworked and unknowing front office staff ... Crowds ... No calls with test results ... Health risk scares. I don't know about midwife practices (which scare me) but the MD practices around here should step up their game --- then again they are overbooked so I understand why they don't bother.

At the end of the day I don't care about front desk staff, what do you really expect from people who are overworked and making minimum wage? What really matters is the OB, and I think Dr.Johnson is one of the best in the area. She handled my HG with compassion and did everything in her power to ensure I had a healthy baby.

I've been a RHJN patient for six years, and I've never had any of these problems. The front desk staff have always been okay, nothing special, and they are definitely a no-nonsense practice. I think the docs are good.

But, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks -- if you aren't happy, switch!

Another RHJ patient chiming in. If you are unhappy there or have concerns, then I would switch. I don't think you will find the grass to be greener elsewhere. Did I have the perfect experience at RHJ during my pregnancy? No. There were some hiccups along the way (and one was a pretty big deal), but they took good care of me and delivered a healthy baby. And, they acknowledged and apologized for the one major hiccup. I agree with the PP who mentioned low-maintenance patients as their sweet spot. If you need hand holding, then they are not the practice for you.

I would also add that if you have a need to feel like a Special Patient (as OP seems to), or somehow need to feel that yours is the only pregnancy in DC that matters, they may not be for you.

Well, I didn't need hand holding, but I needed a doctor to recognize preeclampsia and actually read the chart. It was the nurse practitioner who finally caught the fact that my blood pressure had been elevated for several weeks. That's just one of the many things that made me never go back when pregnant with #2.

I'm switching from their 19th St. office for two reasons - the lack of response for tests (like you mentioned) and I DO NOT want to deliver at Sibley again. My Sibley delivery was horrible and they literally forgot about me several times. Not great care during the labor/delivery and their pediatricians fought DH and I at every turn once she arrived.

I'm an AMA mom, so I've had a number of tests which I've had to hound them on all the results. I called for two weeks, got no response, and then they called to tell me they'd lost my blood and I had to do the test again. ARGH!!

The horrible thing is that I LOVE my doctor - Shawn Davis is wonderful! I also met w/ Drs. Ozmun (great), Hill (great), Radecki (wonderful), McAnders (great), and Johnson (great). I'll miss them and their terffic care, but the admin staff I won't miss. I'll miss how close their office is - literally across the street. Oh, well...

ive been going to them for years (maybe 10?) first 6 were at the friendship heights office, which always seemed to run late. i moved to NoVa and now go to their falls church office and i think it's great. there are a few personalities but it takes a village, you know? i have no complaints and have a 1 year old DS.

Robert Footer's office is at Sibley. If Sibley is close to home, then he might be a good option for you. i've had none of the problems with him that you list. he's not perfect, but i've been happy with him.
