My spouse is a MSW and is a DC school based social worker. Job is very stressful but very rewarding. My spouse loves the job and it pays well.

I couldn't stand corporate America...no job could pay me enough to sacrifice all of that time away from my kids. I would come home at night and feel like they didn't even remember who I was because I was gone all day....sometimes 6 days a week traveling!

No thank you!

I could literally throw my HIPAA approved locked bag over a bridge and into the water AND NOT LOOK BACK. I need the job but it is sucking my soul, my energy, and it is ruining my health. I am in a state of severs burnout. I spend all weekend in bed trying to recoup some semblance of energy so that I can drag my self through another soul sucking day on the following Monday...want to cry just thinking about it. The weeks are getting longer and longer. I am neglecting my kids because I just don't have the energy to deal with them in the way that they deserve. I am so depressed. hate this job!!![/quote

Wow, that sucks, I'm sorry. Have you ever thought of MLM (multi-level marketing or network marketing). There are so many good legit companies that require little investment to get started. I work for Rodan and Fields Dermatologists and see people excelling and making corporate-level salaries every day. Just saying...sounds like anything is better than feeling the way you do.

What do you hate about your job?
O.P here I have a masters degree....there is a lot to deal with . The clients are just difficult and nobody says thank you here even after you " bend over backwards".Generally over worked and underpaid...I just realized that you can't change a world that doesn't want change.

My cousin went into private practice with other social workers. They deal mainly with family issues. She is leasing space in a building close to her house.

My neighbor did the same thing. Do you have good colleagues who would be willing to make the switch?

When you say you're underpaid, how much are we talking here?
