It's not to late. Good luck to you.

What do you hate about your job?

Hate to break it to you but bs in social work is unemployable and you need an MS which pays almost minimum wage.

O.P here I have a masters degree....there is a lot to deal with . The clients are just difficult and nobody says thank you here even after you " bend over backwards".Generally over worked and underpaid...I just realized that you can't change a world that doesn't want change.

Sorry you just realized this. People need to help themselves, IF they are ever ready for that. I find that most people prefer to continue the cycle. I can only focus on bettering me and my own.

OP, are you me?? I"m a 38yo SW who hates my agency-based job. After years of saying I'd never "sell out" I'm taking steps towards starting a private practice. I've been taking specialized trainings in a "niche" area over the last two years, and am developing a business plan. I know that it will be rocky at first, but if I'm going to be overworked and under-paid, at least I'll like my boss!

How did you decide to change from SW to engineering? What kind of engineering?

Have you thought of becoming a school nurse with DCPS? The ones I've dealt with for my kids have seemed happy.[/quote]PP here. No, I want to leave nursing altogether. I love the sciences and love to read. I wouldn't mind working as a medical librarian but it might too late. I'm 48.

You don't have to stay.

You are burnt out and won't do anyone any good that way. Try administration or something.

I hated it too. After 15 years I quit to be a SAHM. No regrets, no plans to ever return. Terrible profession. For me the worst was the administration and co-workers.
