August due dates?

For some reason I can't really shift gears in my head and still calculate everything by the original August 18 due date.

This happened with my first. I had two due dates, two days apart. It's just two days but it was a huge deal to me! In the end I think I ended up with going with the most recent date, but I definitely got confused throughout the pregnancy. DS ended up being 3+ weeks early, so apparently he was on his own schedule.

13:52 here

Hi 13:20 - thank you for your kind words. I will definitely check out that other board. I will be thinking about you - hope everything stays stable with your cervix. I'm a nervous wreck but trying to stay as calm as possible. I went ahead with the cerclage b/c I just couldn't imagine having another thing to worry about in this pregnancy.

13:55 - yes, just one baby this time. I'm basically going to rest the entire pregnancy. Not taking any chances.

HELLO! Nice to see all of you here! L here (the OP).

For all of you for whom it is first baby, but not first pregnancy, I feel you. This is my second pregnancy, and we lost our first at 11 weeks. I think once you have a loss, or certainly more than one, you just don't take for granted anymore than things will work out okay. Whereas if you've never had that, then you just don't have as much of a reason to worry.

I began feeling movement a few weeks ago very faintly, but of course not very regularly. Then I got a cold, felt miserable, and then after I started feeling better I got more and more anxious about continuing to feel movement. I know a cold doesn't usually hurt a baby, but I still worried.

But oh boy now I am feeling it a lot more. Had the 18-week appointment on Friday and was relieved to hear the heartbeat. I think it's so much easier to worry that anything can happen when you know that it can.

Just wondering - do your partners go with you to prenatal appointments? My husband has been with me to all of them so far, but that's because he likes to hear the heartbeat. I'm guessing when they switch to every two weeks he's not going to be as keen.

Oh and yes I'm showing, but I'm short. I switched to some LOVELY maternity pants two weeks ago and am soooo glad I did. That's my biggest advice actually. Go to a maternity shop where they have a "stunt bump" for you to try things on with, and find comfortable clothes for you now that will fit later with a bigger bump. Spend the money on a decent pair of pants (or find your size at the store, then get it used on eBay). Soooooo worth it.

L again. Just realized that post sounded very me me me me me. But I am reading everyone's stories, and sending up thoughts to those who are struggling. Nobody tells you how hard this is.

To say we are nervous and cautiously optimistic is a huge understatement. Had a cerclage placed a couple of weeks ago. Need lots of prayers and a miracle really.

I had a cerclage with my pregnancy and it did the trick, went fine. Had to be checked frequently but no problems and no movement restrictions. I'm sure you and the baby will be fine!

13:52- This is 13:20. the board on BBC is called August 2013 Rainbow Babies. Ignore the cheezy name. It's much better than the name suggests! If you join, I'm JenDC76.

My approach to due dates is to never let them change it to earlier but always let them make it later if they want to, as even a day or two longer before scheduling a c-section is another day of growth and time the baby could decide to come out on its own.

13:20 - this is 13:52. Thanks so much! Look forward to seeing you on there. Will let you know when/if I pik a name.

16:26 - 13:52 here. Thank you for you encouragement. I really hope this cerclage does the trick. I have a double-stitch mcdonald, so praying it holds up well.

This is sad, but I actually had to look up my due date b/c I don't even go by it. I focus on what week I'm on now and how far I need to make it so this baby will be born healthy!

This is 13:20. Not sad at all, just trying to keep sanity. When people ask about the due date, I typically tell them when my next appointment is. That's all I can focus on. I get to the next appointment.

13:20 - you are so right! I focus on each appointment as well and am so glad to have one every week. I'm solely seeing an MFM/peri and am thankful he lets me go in every week. Talk about taking every step possible to try to have just a small bit of sanity.

So.... where are you all on names? We have a boy name we like but have no clue about girl names. I'm kind of hoping it's a boy just so we don't have to figure out a girl name. I just can't find anything like enough!

When do you usually start to feel movement? I will be 16 weeks tomorrow and haven't felt anything yet that I kow of.
