HELLO! Nice to see all of you here! L here (the OP). For all of you for whom it is first baby, but not first pregnancy, I feel you. This is my second pregnancy, and we lost our first at 11 weeks. I think once you have a loss, or certainly more than one, you just don't take for granted anymore than things will work out okay. Whereas if you've never had that, then you just don't have as much of a reason to worry. I began feeling movement a few weeks ago very faintly, but of course not very regularly. Then I got a cold, felt miserable, and then after I started feeling better I got more and more anxious about continuing to feel movement. I know a cold doesn't usually hurt a baby, but I still worried. But oh boy now I am feeling it a lot more. Had the 18-week appointment on Friday and was relieved to hear the heartbeat. I think it's so much easier to worry that anything can happen when you know that it can. Just wondering - do your partners go with you to prenatal appointments? My husband has been with me to all of them so far, but that's because he likes to hear the heartbeat. I'm guessing when they switch to every two weeks he's not going to be as keen. Oh and yes I'm showing, but I'm short. I switched to some LOVELY maternity pants two weeks ago and am soooo glad I did. That's my biggest advice actually. Go to a maternity shop where they have a "stunt bump" for you to try things on with, and find comfortable clothes for you now that will fit later with a bigger bump. Spend the money on a decent pair of pants (or find your size at the store, then get it used on eBay). Soooooo worth it.
