Beachbody DVDs

I've noticed people mentioning these videos on weight loss threads. I checked the company website out and it looks like they have a lot of different types (hip hop, straight cardio, etc.) I have a large amount of weight to lose and I'd like to be as efficient as possible. Is the way to go? Would love to hear people's thoughts.

How large? Are you generally fit enough and have time enough to do intense 1/2 hour or 45 minute workouts? If so, Insanity is great.

I just finished a Chalean Extreme/Turbofire rotation. I got great results (definition and weight loss), but these videos are high-intermediate to advanced and I would not recommend them to a new exerciser. There are some BB products that are less advanced - Body Gospel, Turbo Jam and Rockin' Body are a few.

Insanity is great, but it is high intensity. You can slowly complete more of the DVD each day. Just know when to stop. Hell even the warm up is a work out in and of itself.

Good luck!

I love the "Yoga, Booty, Ballet" Beach Body DVD. It's been a while since I've done it, but I remember there were a few levels to choose from so you work up to the more advanced workout. I had about 10-15 lbs to lose and I noticed definitiion. I was also running 3-5 miles/ 4 days a week and watching my diet...but the weight came off. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it. Good luck, OP.

I've done them all. I was a Beachbody Coach for years (meaning, I sold the products and provided support to my clients).

If you are in decent shape, P90X is a good one to start with. Even if you are very out of shape, P90X works as long as you modify the movements and listen to your body. It's challenging, but doable. And the workouts change throughout the program, so it stays fun. The P90X Yoga workout is insane! But in a really good way.

Insanity is tough! It's a great workout, but I could see it being a little overwhelming to someone new to higher intensity workouts.

Something to think about...if you are serious about losing weight and getting in shape, add Shakeology. Yes, it's expensive. But it is worth every penny. You simply replace one meal a day with a shake. They taste good, are very good for you, and give your body what it needs to build muscle and lose fat. You can do the same thing with diet, but it's almost impossible.

This is not even remotely true. Another Beachbody tip, don't list to the "Coaches". They will hound you like none other.

I've done a bunch of research to see what has worked for other people and I've seen the Beachbody brand name thrown around a lot. And then my good friend just finished Insanity and also recommended that I looked into the Beachbody brand to see what other programs might work for me. I'm looking into trying out Les Mills Combat -- It has a combo of a bunch of different martial arts, so it seems like it'll be different than any other program I've tried. What other BB workouts have you guys had a success with?

Totally not true. While I'm sure that there are coaches that "hound" clients, I haven't met any. When you order the program, they'll ask you if you would like free coaching. You can always say no. However, the people that are the most successful are the ones who are active in the Beachbody Community. By posting on line, logging into the online gym, communicating with other people who are doing the same program, joining challenge groups, etc... you drastically increase your chances of success.

I am not a Beachbody Coach. But I am a fitness trainer. Beachbody works. But you have to be willing to get up every day and push that play button. And you cannot achieve great results with diet alone. It's just not possible. Dieting will help you lose weight. A good fitness program improves your health, builds muscle, increases endurance, and leads to long lasting results.

P90X is a good program to start with. Even if you are very out of shape, the exercises are easily modified. The exercises are so varied that it's impossible to get bored. I love the yoga!

Insanity is is really tough. People new to exercise could easily become discouraged. It can feel a little repetitive. And it is very intense. I'm in really good shape - marathon runner, work out every day,..... Insanity still kicks my ass every time. But I love it!

The Chalean programs are not as difficult. Rev abs is another great little program.

Les Mills is challenging. It's much easier if you have a little bit of martial arts background. It is really, really, really fun!

Body Beast is great for men who are looking to bulk up. I wouldn't recommend it to most women.

Honestly, they are all really good in their own way. You'll need to read through them and decide what you think works best for you based on your current fitness level and your goals.
