One of my husbands subordinates (military) was a young man (late teens/early 20's) who went to a party. Some other people crashed the party and he ended up getting a fight. He got beat up so bad that he was in a coma.

His girlfriend ended up coming to the hospital to visit, and over time got to know one of his buddies really well...and then hooked up...and eventually married him. The original boyfriend did end up coming out of the coma, but his injuries were severe enough that he was discharged from the military.

The girlfriend's husband was still in--so I'd see her around at unit functions and stuff. I just always thought it was kind of crappy to cheat on your boyfriend while he's in a coma (the coma was a matter of days...not years or something).

Eh, I don't see what's so wrong with this. She fell in love with someone else, and aside from the new guy being her ex's friend, what did she do wrong? You said over time she got to know one of his buddies. Sounds like enough time to let her then bf know she's leaving.

I might have used a bad choice of words...like I said, he was in a coma for only a few days---it's not like it was a period of months or years.

Are you forced to commit to a boyfriend if he gets injured while you are dating?

I think you guys are missing the point. She's in the hospital visiting said bf while he's in a coma and within a FEW DAYS she's in LOVE with a friend of his that was visiting said bf also. You don't find it kind of terrible that she "fell in in love" with her bf's friend in a matter of a few days while they were both visiting this poor guy in the hospital?

Shit happens. They weren't committed.

My close friend has a brother who is married and has 3 kids. They had an accidental fire in their attic that required significant restoration to their home. The wife began an affair with the general contractor on the project and left her husband over it.

The general contractor, I might add, is a woman.

This thread confirms that D.C. is a boring town! 18 posts of scandalous affairs. My friends in small towns could come up with hundreds of these stories. I guess there's not much else to do in a small town than have an affair with your best friend's husband or the principle of your child's school?

Or people are just better at hiding here.

My mom's friend's friend was celebrating a milestone birthday at a getaway spa with husband and grown children. Unbeknownst to her- husband went to a strip joint alone one night. Husband began an affair with a stripper that he met there. The affair continued long-distance. The stripper moved to the opposite coast to be in the same city as her boyfriend/other woman's husband. Husband introduced the wife to his new "employee" (really the stripper) and continued affair for months. Finally- admitted the truth to wife. Wife found out she had STD's and the ex-husband and now ex-stripper are married- for over 10 years now!!!! True story!

I agree. In my little town I had 2 friends growing up whose parents swapped spouses (i.e., 2 women divorced their husbands and married the other's ex-husband). The couples had gotten to know each other through a series of "key parties" -- also a common occurrence in a small town.

Were others laid off/fired as well or were they the only ones. Wondering if this could have been my wife (I do know about the affair).

Or, like me, others feel like the OP was just trolling for scandal stories with a made-up lead-in. It's off-putting.
Truth be told, after octotroll, DCUM is losing its appeal for me.

I know of too many....

A married woman was the coach of the college softball team. She fell in love with one of the players. She was fired, divorced her husband and was living with that player. Hope it worked out for her!

My uncle cheated on his first wife (and mother of his kids) with a family friend, left the wife, married the mistress and had a third child. Then, he cheated on wife #2 with his secretary, left wife #2, and married the secretary/mistress. Now wife #3 (and mother of his 4th and 5th children... or so we're told) is having an affair with my uncle's best friend.

I only wish I could see the look on his face when he finds out.

When I was in grad school, a married woman in my program had an affair with a single woman in the program. The marriage ended and the ladies became an item. Wasn't close with either of them, but the woman who left her husband always seemed like the introverted, mousy goody 2 shoes type. Maybe she was holding back because she was trying too hard to conform to what her family wanted.

It's "principal" not principle - remember the principal is your pal.
