In many large parking lots, the employees are often encouraged to park in the back of the lot so as to keep the closer spaces available for paying customers, and they often are clustered into the same areas of the parking lot. Regardless, if you don't want someone parking next to your car, don't put it in a public parking lot. |
I get there early so that my family CAN sit together where I want. If you feel so entitled that you are more special and deserve to waltz in at the last minute and inconvenience others because you didn't plan ahead and aren't willing to split up your party, then you are the one who is an asshole. You need to stay home and watch DVD's. |
This is the PP who posted the original question. I am afraid I do not understand the logic of these responses. I am talking about a sold-out movie. It is a given that you will eventually have to sit next to a stranger. But instead of just doing that as you come in and allowing more people to have good seats as a result (on a first come first served basis) you stubbornly leave room on either side until the usher forces you to move, thereby giving the late-late comers better seats than some of the people who arrived earlier. By the way, I am almost always the early comer, trying to suggest to my fellow movie goers that maybe we should move closer to the middle as the theater starts to fill up. But from the looks I am getting you'd think I was asking them to give away all of their possessions to the poor. |
If you don't slide over so my husband and I can't sit together, it's your right. However, we'll likely sit on either end of your family, and I can virtually guarantee you won't enjoy the movie. It'll be out little game - more entertaining than the flick. |
Good luck with that. I'll just call the usher and have your ass tossed for being the disruptive jerk that you apparently want to be. |
Speaking for myself, I usually don't know whether the movie is sold-out (unless it is the first showing of the latest blockbuster). I leave a space so that I can put my purse and jacket on it. Theater floors are usually sticky and filthy. If someone wants to sit in that seat, I pick up my stuff and put it in my lap. We like to sit by the aisle since my DH is claustrophobic and I like to be able to get out and take a phone call from the babysitter (yes, the phone is quietly vibrating in my pocket). |
Why don't you just pull in so that the side of the car you need to enter is not next to a space (on the end) or so that it is next to the cart return. Then no one can park next to you.
|
Don't recommend parking next to a cart return. Carts tend to stack up around it and bang into your car. |
I think my favorite poster is 17:08 - the self-appointed movie theater monitor. |
I am a guy. A car enthusiast. I take great pride in my car and I absolutely HATE it when people always park next to me. I always park further away, cause I drive a nice car and want to keep her safe. But no matter where I park, I always find some crappy small car, or a big family van, or a ricer parked next to me! I always check every inch of my car when I back out (To make sure there is no damage on the bodywork). You think Mercedes parts are cheap?! They ain't! I should also mention that I live in Europe. But here we have the same type of idiots as anywhere else on the world.
Once I got back from the supermarket and found that someone had left massive scratches in my bumper and had torn of a piece of the chrome trim! I nearly got a heart attack and I'm 21! There was a blank note under the wipers! What piece of crap bastard did that?! I hope the guy, or gal that did that dies a painful death! The repairs costed 1000 Euro! If you drive a dirty car with dents and scratches, chances are you suck at driving - bigtime! So stay AWAY!!! If you drive a Porsche, or BMW, or anything like that, feel free to park next to me. In most cases when you drive a nice car, you will take great care not to damage your car, or anyone else's! And a thing about the mothers. This is a mom-forum thing, but please. If I may... Be careful with the baby equipment! Be careful when backing out of your parking spots. Don't talk on the phone, while adjusting the radio, while feeding a baby and telling your teenager to do their homework, while reversing! Reverse, drive away and feel free to do anything your heart desires. I won't care. I have seen mothers trying to get their baby seat, while their car door was scraping another car. One tried to do that with my car. I stopped her, told her to wait, till I get my car out of the way! No way I'm going to have to fix door scratches, cause someone doesn't care about car damage! I've seen one lady that put the baby seat thing and her handbag (with metal bits) on the boot of a brand new BMW 5-Series! (It wasn't her car) She just wanted to free her hands so she could unlock her Honda Jazz! If that was my BMW, I would have called the police on the spot for vandalism! If you have read everything I have said and taken any of the points I made into consideration. Thank You! Have a nice day and steer clear of idiots! |
+1 I'm with you OP. Drives me nuts. It's tough enough getting the infant car seat in when there is nobody parked next to you - forget about it when someone is parked super close. |
Oh dude, this is SUCH bullshit. I always come early so I can get an aisle seat because I am so OCD. But it is totally fucked up to just refuse to move over that one seat to make room. There is no need for the seats to be 0XX0B when it could be XXOOB if X1 wasn't such an ass. |
Good news! You can prevent this from happening by not parking in a public parking lot! |
Thread necromancy? |
Agree. |
