Why do people park right next to me when I park allll the way in the far end of the parking lot?

We always park far end of the parking lot, and it never fails - someone is ALWAYS parked right next to us - even though there is PLENTY of parking/empty spots through out the lot. WHY!?!!

Yesterday the guy was so close, i couldn't get by with the minivan door open.

UGH

You are popular OP. We all want to be next to you.

They are afraid your car might get lonely.

We all want to hang out with the cool kids.

Hahahah: human behavior. This is very simian. We are primates after all and there are instances where the instinct to copy others comes through when following another car in a semi-hypnotic state to the point of actually trying to park in the same spot or in proximity. I've seen people follow behind buses while they're driving and stop at bus stops. Often it is involuntary. You're over thinking this.

It's so annoying. You out of your way to park far away in the big ass parking lot. Then you come back and can't get your kid in the car because some asshole parked right next the door where the carseat is. You look around at the empty parking lot very confused as you try to shove your baby through the door.

I am not being sarcastic. Get off the drugs, get off the phone, turn down the radio and pay attention to the big empty lots you jerks.

AMEN! This is exactly what happened to me. It was a Target parking lot - a trillion other spots, but he hugged my car and I struggled to get my baby into the car.

So I blocked him in with my empty shopping cart. Jerk

Because they are either assholes or really really dumb. Same reason there will be 500 empty lockers in the locker room and someone will put their stuff in the one right next to mine. (which does have an obvious lock on it.) Because they are too stupid to realize you should spread out so you're not in each other's way if you don't have to be. Yeah, I have territorial issues.

That said, maybe it's easier for people to park when they have a car next to them as a visual guide. I've been parking in my work garage for a year and it's still easier to center myself between the lines if there are cars on either side of me. If I am in there early, I usually have to back out and repark because I end up all off-center. No idea why!

Maybe you forgot to display your 'It's All About MEEEEE' plackard in your window.

The same reason people take the stall next to you in an otherwise empty bathroom, I suppose.

Because you drive a mini-van. With the sliding doors, the odds decrease that you'll ding my car.

Not me. If you did that to me, I'd be sure to "accidently" drag my stroller up the side of your car, while trying to get me kids inside.

Yes, this!! Why?? Why oh, why can't they use one of the other six stalls in the bathroom? Nope, they always have to go right next to me. My husband says this must be a woman-only thing. Men respect distance in the bathroom.
