how do celebrities/models stay so thin and in shape?

it's their job and they exercise self control.

Is this supposed to be a trick question? Everyone knows there is no "trick" to being thin.

But in lots of cases, yeah, they really don't eat. You know all those headlines about celebrity freakouts, where someone threw a phone at her assistant or attacked a photographer or screamed at the craft services people because there's was only splenda and no equal? That's what happens when you're hungry all the time. And spoiled, of course.

When you say they're busy, part of their jobs is working out and maintaining the body. It's not something they have to squeeze in around their other commitments. It IS a commitment. Basically, being beautiful for a living is a full-time job bordering on (or even fully blown) obsession. People who get famous for their looks are the workaholics of their skill group.

This. I know people like this who are not models and they just have it easy in the weight department and they also don't starve themselves. They do very moderate amount of exercise or just walk and don't overeat, but don't diet either, and appear to be in amazing shape, at least when clothed. I see some women who don't even seem to gain any weight around their bodies while pregnant, they just look like stick figures with big bellies. I doubt they starve themselves during PG. I've also seen thin women with a bit of a belly or saggy skin around the mid section, but the rest of the body is in perfect condition and mommy-arms don't make appearance. Once they get a tummy tuck, they'll have their girly figures back. Not so true for many of us who tend to gain fat all over when PG.

It's usually the tall, lanky types, with thin bone structure, this is what most models are anyway.

I knew a girl in college who was a professional model, but was not naturally thin. She starved herself regularly to get jobs and even though she looked very skinny to me, she had a hard time landing high fashion work, mostly print work. She exited after getting her degree and got a regular job where she could eat. She looked very heavy when PG, but then lost weight. Every time I saw her, she either was a little bottom heavy or completely starved skinny. She had eating issues well into her 30s. My guess is the girls that stay in fashion industry for a long time are the naturally skinny types, otherwise, it's an uphill battle and probably lots of drugs.

I totally agree with this. If you are a model, your job is to look good. You may spend 4-5 hours a day working out. If you are an actress, you're job is to look a certain way and if you're going to hire trainers, and spend 2-3 hours a day to look this way.

Most of us have--at best--an hour a day. Some of us have a lot less than that. Even if you have the time, you may not have the resources to spend on trainers, classes, personal fitness equipment...

MONEY. Not only to have a trainer and chef, but to have the time to workout ALOT, and other servants to do the stuff other people normally have to waste time doing. Like cleaning, shopping, raising children, paying bills, driving to soccer practice, etc.

Oh yeah and money for plastic surgery, too.

and you may not simply have energy. It's not like you have people waiting on you hand and foot, picking up all the mess in the house, cooking your meals, taking care of kids any time you need. These days, I need the energy for the kids after coming back from work and chores and after the bedtime routine, it's just gone and I have very little motivation to be getting on a treadmill. I am also not a morning person, who would wake up at the crack of dawn to cheerfully go for a run and again, kids also wake up early and need attention, its not like I have a nanny starting at 6am. I supposed when kids get older this will change and I will be back to the gym, keeping fingers crossed.

Based on celebrity profiles that I've read, the majority of actresses seem to run for an hour a day, which is pretty sufficient to keep the weight off if you're also eating mostly fish and vegetables.

I was asking whether there is some secret pill or treatment that is available mostly only to celebrities (because of cost or whatever).

They smoke and drink a lot of coffee to keep hunger at bay. They have trainers and dietitians and personal chefs who help them eat well and work out to tone their body. They get plastic surgery. They also tailor everything they wear, down to tshirts. Everything they own is meant to fit their body perfectly, which also helps them look better. Beauty is a funny thing, because it is absolutely, for most people, created. If everyone had the resources these people do, pretty much everyone would be good looking.

this. this. this.

It's not just about actresses/models, wealthy women who care about their appearances tend to look much better than their working class counterparts. This has always been the case throughout history. During young years, the playing field might be even and there isn't a difference between poorer girls and wealthier girls. But come 30s and children, you start seeing the difference. Staying slim and beautiful is work and only very small amount of working class moms take this "work" as priority over other tasks or learn to juggle tasks so efficiently as to perform this "work" to stay beautiful. Most women get overwhelmed with juggling jobs/kids/households and simply don't attribute that much attention to their looks putting other priorities ahead, or maybe hope to pick up the slack later.

Also, for women who used to be very beautiful in their younger years, most of them end up well off, they marry better than their less good looking counterparts and know they can be taken care of. Others, who don't, still tend to look better in their 30s and 40s simply because of genetics and also because they are used to attention and it's very hard to give up, so they will try harder to stay in shape than their less good looking counterparts even when sacrifices have to be made. They just tend to be more insecure and needing to know they are still beautiful, so may be more prone to go on diets and squeeze exercise when it's not a priority for other moms.

I'm sure there are a lot of reasons - but I do suggest the raw diet if you're looking to lose weight. I'm almost forty and it works on me - well, raw diet and some serious exercise - running/gymnastics/heart-pounding workouts.

Seriously just stop. The fact that you truly cannot figure this out is absurd. How old are you and where did you grow up?

I am sure they do diet pills and I am 100% sure they do plastic surgery even if they never want to admit it. There is non-invasive liposuction you can get, laser treatments to even skin tone and make skin thicker to reduce the appearance of cellulite, detox wraps, etc. A lot of this stuff is cost prohibitive to avg. women and it is not like you have scars you get that you have to explain. You can say you never did this or that procedure and nobody will ever know.

Ok, here is the question. How do all these models pose for bikini shots after having kids and have perfectly flat belly? They either have a mini-tummy tuck of sorts or they just get airbrushed. Even if you are skinny, the big belly will stretch your skin and naturally thin women with very flat stomachs before pregnancy are more prone to get stretch marks. Where does the skin go 3 months after pregnancy and how come they never have a single stretch mark? It's surgery/makeup/photo retouching. It's all fake.

Everyone else on this thread has contributed some kind of intelligent and insightful observation, thought, point, etc. You're the only one being rude, and not posting anything of substance. You do not have to read this thread or post here if you don't have anything to contribute.
