Yes - I work with special needs children

Yes! Another professor here. Heavy teaching load, but wonderful students, dedicated and thoughtful colleagues, and autonomy in both research and teaching. |
Part-time nanny and LOVE it! Am always happy to get back in to work after a break. |
Creative Director for a communications firm -- Love it! |
Chief of Staff in the president's office of a small non-profit (50 employees). Love it. |
Sometimes I'm a finder. Sometimes I'm a fixer. Large public entity. |
What does Chief of Staff do? What are the qualifications? |
Work in HR at a mid-sized non-profit. I love everything about my job - my boss, the people I work with, the mission of the organization, wonderful flexibility and work-life balance - EXCEPT the job itself. Don't hate it, but it's not my passion, and I am starting to feel stuck (i.e. not advancing or gaining new skills). It works for now, with two young kids, but I always find myself dreaming about what might be next. |
Librarian (but really a researcher; job has nothing to do with books). |
I'm with 1:01 -- I'm a Fed manager with a great staff at a good Agency with an excellent mission. But I have no personal interest in the content of my job-- I came into it via a series of twists and turns that have taken me away from my interests and passions and put me in charge of something I find boring. I fake interest all day long; fake it really really well. That said, I'm a people-person so I'm a good manager. I work hard to make the work place supportive, fair and career-enhancing for my staff and they respond with very good to excellent work. I have about 7 years to go until I could retire (although I might not actually be able to at that point, I don't know). 7 years seems like forever. COB seems like forever. |
Former Lawyer turned Professional Organizer. Absolutely love it! |
Great post OP! MUCH better than the thinly disguised "how do I make a quick buck at being lazy" looking for a job that doesn't exist but I have no creativity of my own posts. Thank you, seriously. |
I'm a librarian too! I like my job. I am a librarian in a regulatory agency. I've been here a couple of years and the people I work with are great. I compare it to my last stint of 16 years. We got a new boss who drove everyone out and was a first class BULLY. Compared to that, this is a walk in the park and I love it. I am glad there is another librarian who likes what they do. School Libraries have lots of challenges these days. |
Medical Social Worker. Great job! |
Lawyer. Telecommute full time. No set hours and can travel freely. Employer would not know where I am half the time if I didn't tell them (but I do, because I LOVE my job). |
