Yes - I work with special needs children

Yes! Another professor here. Heavy teaching load, but wonderful students, dedicated and thoughtful colleagues, and autonomy in both research and teaching.

Sometimes I'm a finder. Sometimes I'm a fixer. Large public entity.

What does Chief of Staff do? What are the qualifications?

Work in HR at a mid-sized non-profit. I love everything about my job - my boss, the people I work with, the mission of the organization, wonderful flexibility and work-life balance - EXCEPT the job itself. Don't hate it, but it's not my passion, and I am starting to feel stuck (i.e. not advancing or gaining new skills). It works for now, with two young kids, but I always find myself dreaming about what might be next.

Librarian (but really a researcher; job has nothing to do with books).

I'm with 1:01 -- I'm a Fed manager with a great staff at a good Agency with an excellent mission. But I have no personal interest in the content of my job-- I came into it via a series of twists and turns that have taken me away from my interests and passions and put me in charge of something I find boring. I fake interest all day long; fake it really really well. That said, I'm a people-person so I'm a good manager. I work hard to make the work place supportive, fair and career-enhancing for my staff and they respond with very good to excellent work. I have about 7 years to go until I could retire (although I might not actually be able to at that point, I don't know). 7 years seems like forever. COB seems like forever.

Former Lawyer turned Professional Organizer. Absolutely love it!

Great post OP! MUCH better than the thinly disguised "how do I make a quick buck at being lazy" looking for a job that doesn't exist but I have no creativity of my own posts. Thank you, seriously.

I'm a librarian too! I like my job. I am a librarian in a regulatory agency. I've been here a couple of years and the people I work with are great. I compare it to my last stint of 16 years. We got a new boss who drove everyone out and was a first class BULLY. Compared to that, this is a walk in the park and I love it.

I am glad there is another librarian who likes what they do. School Libraries have lots of challenges these days.

Medical Social Worker. Great job!

Lawyer. Telecommute full time. No set hours and can travel freely. Employer would not know where I am half the time if I didn't tell them (but I do, because I LOVE my job).
