The thing about AAP is that all of the kids are smart. They can all handle the work. The kids tend to work more independently, which mean the borderline appeals kids will not hold back your snowfluke.

And it does not cost more to have kids in AAP.

Come again? How do you think the AAP kids get to a school that is not in their neighborhood? It's not their parents driving them. School buses pick them up at locations outside the boundaries of the AA center school. Buses and drivers cost money.

Ok. The buses cost more. But the instruction does not cost more. And the extra expenses in busing is relatively small...

I'm really not sure why people dismiss the cost of extra busing for aap as small. It's quite substantial actually and those funds could certainly be put towards reducing class sizes.

From my research, the cost of transportation of the AAP students whose base school is not the center is probably less than 500K. A few years ago, when the county was considering cutting funding for transportation for kids whose base school the estimated savings was about $208,000.

At 500,000K, the cost is $41 per AAP student, which, IMHO, is not significant.

And if used for teachers, they could probably hire a more teachers at most, county wide. (factoring in the cost of benefits).

Hi - this is the wrong place to post this, I know, but I/m new here and having trouble searching for the topic I'd love to discuss.

My daughter has been accepted into the Level IV class, but she's Level III. . .can anyone tell me give me a link to chat with other parents in same boat - just would love to know how their children did with the level IV curriculum. Feeling nervous for her...

Thanks so much.

It sounds like your daughter will be in the Local Level IV class at your school. I suggest searching on the board here for info on Local Level IV.

Alternatively you could try the FCAG Yahoo Group but I think that may be comprised more of Level IV Center students as well as students at TJ.

I would add that your child will be fine, and don't worry about her being "Level III." Sometimes nearly half of the kids in Local Level IV are not "center eligible" but are placed in by the principal to fill out the class. These kids generally do very well, and no one can tell the difference performance-wise. Your principal would not have placed your child there if she wasn't considered highly likely to succeed. This is a great opportunity for your child! Congrats!

Thank you for your helpful words! I did hear from her teacher that there are only about 12 kids staying at local level, so that would indeed make it an even mix of both. Thanks again!
