Cogat
V: 134 Q: 138 NV: 128 Comp: 139 NNAT: 139 GBRS 12 Denied in the first round. Resubmitted with the following WISC - taken at GMU - fairly positive experience (not just because of the scores but how comfortable the kid was and the follow-up that was provided and also the write-up which will help the kid as he grows up.) FSIQ: 143 VCI: 136 PRI: 141 Accepted on Appeal. |
That child seems like s/he should have gotten in on the first round. That's odd. Glad you go tin on appeal! |
twins? or older sibling is in and younger did not get in? There is nothing that you can do for this coming school year, but you can reapply next spring and the child will receive a new GBRS from their new teacher. |

Twins ...GBRS was 13 FSIQ 126 still rejected... ...O student....I feel very soory for my DC
|
|
DC is AAP III part time...DC was excepting full AAP IV
|
Make sure DC is ready for next year with a strong packet. Take a different IQ test. Also, take the NNat and CoGat again and do it through George Mason. I would do it all now so that you have everything ready to go for next January. Your Dc will probably get in next year and in the meantime just make sure DC does the same work as kiddo already in Level IV. I am sorry for your DC too, it is so hard to watch them go through this pain. In time I believe DC will get in. Good luck to you. |

NAI = 120
CoGAT = 137 Composite (Verbal = 140, Quantitative - 127, Nonverbal = 130) GBRS = 8 Did WISQ for appeal, FSIQ = 132 We got the letter yesterday that DC is eligible. They want a decision by Monday, why so quick I wonder? |
Probably because they need to plan for the coming school year. They need to know how many students will be attending each school. They need to know how many students they will have in each class, in case they need to hire an extra teacher due to class size. They need to plan transportation routes, including possibly hiring an extra bus driver to cover a longer transportation route. They need to get students records from one school to another, and possibly plan for counselor review of students IEPs/504s. That's just a start. |
Ironic coming from a parent who probably stalked the mailbox everyday for the last 14 days awaiting a decision. |
Talk to the principle at the school. There's a new rule for twins that they can be placed in the same class/school if parents request. Hope it works out well for you. |
10:38 again. I'm not sure about AAP classes or different schools, but below link has the law. Ask if there's any available option for you. http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/files/89AHGD486211/$file/R3701.pdf |
Can you PLEASE share the individual WISC scores? |
| the twins thing isn't going to work for AAP. They are in different programs. |

Rising 3rd Grader.
1st Round Did not get in. 2nd Round WISC 96% Reports G's and O's GBRS 4 Did not get in. Mail came yesterday. I need some advice please. The teacher gave very good remarks at the Parent teachers not sure where the 4 came from. WISC evaluator recommended her too. Is there a way, I can appeal or have FCPS review GBRS? Also, any advice on how I can appeal again? Thank You. |
|
You will have to wait for next year (Jan.) to apply AAP again, with new GBRS from her 3rd grade teachers.
what is NNAT/CogAT? and what is WISC score? not sure what is the score at 96%. since ususally people here say, WISC need to be above 130 (or at least 125) to have a good chance to get in on appeal. |
