I LOVE this thread! I'm impressed by the OP and others who are answering all questions with aplomb. OP, you have more patience than Job. |
If this is how you felt about them, your disdain probably showed. I can see why you were picked up. Just sayin' -AA female |
I've never once heard anyone reference "leader" other than when it pertains to the black race. That tells me something. |
I agree! This thread is going much better than the "Questions for white people" one. |
|
Who here prefers AA? Who here prefers Black?
Signed, AA |
I'm good with both. And I use them both depending on my audience. -AA female |
I don't have a preference, but have been surprised by the debate going on in the thread on Africans ... according to some posters over there, I have to get a new racial identity because none of my slave ancestors were ever in the US - signed formerly AA (specifically bi-racial with a Caribbean American black parent) |
| I prefer Black, but then again according to the "African" thread I do not qualify for AA anyway bc my ancestors were dragged in chains to the Caribbean not to the USA. |
I call myself black. That is what i grew up with, and AA feels a bit pretentious and academic to me. But I don't care if others call me AA. It may be a generational thing too. I am over 40. |
Either is OK, lately I've found myself using AA to self-identify, maybe because I've heard it so much over the past 10 years? I'm 38 & female. |
| 16:53/16:54, please keep that debate in that thread. This thread has been a very positive discussion. |
Done, I will not bring it up again. |
|
I have a question. I am a black female and since OP is male I have always wanted to know ...
Do you think that dating/marrying a while woman as an accomplishment? |
|
AA here - if you're gonna say black, don't whisper it or lower your voice as if it were something bad. i had someone actually do that to me. "my students are mostly.. you know... black."
and don't say THE BLACKS. i hate that shit. |
