A "person of the booth" is a man or women who lives underground for 9 to 10 hours a day and can be distinguished by their uniform and surly disposition. |
privatize it already |
"privatize it already"
a) it would not exist then. No public transportation system can self-support (roads also do not self-support in the vast majority of cases). b) this may not help anyway - have you not been to a mall or lunch counter or CVS lately? Or perhaps your stores are the 1% where they are able to somehow employ only friendly and efficient workers? those I visit in both DC and MD are not that way. |
Ooh people at CVS are mean too |
Yeah I can never understand that. When I've worked jobs like that, maybe I wasn't crazy about my job but being nice to people helped me enjoy it more. And I also wonder if people who act that way do that because they expect to be treated that way themselves. What an unpleasant world they live in! |
Good that you did that. Otherwise he would have gotten a commission for "helping" you. I had that happen with a complete asshole at Hudson Trail Outfitters. |
Happily, the people working at my local CVS are really nice. However, they're slowly disappearing anyway as more of those self-checkers get installed. |
can we have a do-over in hiring the booth people. they are not nice. |
This is so true. People come to DC from all over the world, and if any of them take Metro, they're usually going to be the ones asking 'booth people' questions. so, they get a great feeling for DC hospitality. And, PP, I prefer the self-checkers just for this reason! I'd much rather check out my own crap than have to deal with a surly employee. At least the self-checker doesn't look at me with disgust while I ring up. |
I hate the self-checkers. I seem to be incapable of using them right and so 90% of the time I end up having to wait for someone to come over after the thing sets off alarms. Better to deal quickly w/ an unfriendly employee than spend forever at a machine and need help anyway. |
Dulles Greenway is private and is doing great. If they privatized metro they could get rid of the entire union staff, pensions etc... and operate efficiently and at a better cost. |
I think that's apples and oranges. Metro's income has never been able to cover its operating budget. |
Wrong, http://www.tbd.com/blogs/tbd-on-foot/2011/10/here-s-where-metro-will-spend-its-money-in-the-2013-wmata-budget--13175.html Metro Board has historically favored social equity over simplicity |
Confederate traitors! |
Your CVS still has people? AT OURS, YOU HAVE TO BECOME AN UNPAID EMPLOYEE AND SWIPE ALL YOUR OWN STUFF AT THE CASH REGISTER TO BUY ANYTHING WHICH I DON'T WANT TO THAT VERY MUCH, THANK YOU. |
