When I was in college, a booth man gave me $5 to ride the train when my smarttrip card wasn't working. Another booth guy let me use his cell phone to call my friend when mine broke. I was pretty cute back then, I definitely wouldn't have such luck these days. The booth women have always had nasty attitudes. |
Anyone who says that if she had a customer service job dealing with clueless people all day she would be unfailingly cheerful and helpful is completely full of it.
Just count your blessings and move on. Why are you giving these people so much power over your moods? Does it matter? My mother always said the people who care about and love you are the ones who should treat you best, and vice versa. The others... well, who cares? |
Never had a problem when seeking assistance from the metro employees. When I smile, I receive a return smile, always. I have seen patrons verbally abusive to metro employees. I was on one of their buses about six years ago and saw a patron hawk spit on a driver and jump off the bus. it was in dupont circle. DISGUSTING! The driver wiped it off and kept on driving.
I think many of you people complaining about the attention you receive are sending bad vibes. Perhaps the employees are reacting to your initial actions. |
I turned in something I found to a metro booth person for their lost and found. She was so, so nasty and acted like I had done something terrible. I told her I found it on the train and was turning it in. When she realized she had absolutely no reason to be nasty, she said in a nasty tone, "THANK YOU!". I just walked away. What a despicable person. |
Are you over the age of 50? If so please use the senior citizen handicap assisted checkouts |
Not nice. Senior citizens are 65 and older. |
DC govt workers, metro workers and most fed gov admin positions are an absolute nightmare. I don't know if it is a racial issue, but almost all of those with a horrible attitude are AA. I think it more of a union problem - no accountability and too hard to be fired coupled with no competition. sad. |
Agreed. But I think it is interesting that the majority of the most prestigious positions are always held by whites, with a token few minorities here and there. |
But even in the midst of major financial troubles, Metro hired San Francisco-based consultant Marc Caposino, a friend of former Metro assistant general manager Sara Wilson...
Without a thorough background check or even a completed job application, Metro paid Caposino $140,000 in salary, $10,000 signing bonus, and $20,000 in moving expenses to relocate.... The IG report reveals that when a whistleblower reported Wilson for the allegedly improper hiring, it was the whistleblower who got fired, escorted out by police.... But taxpayers told us that response simply passes the buck. And the former San Fransisco consultant has a new job - with the D.C. government working for Mayor Vincent Gray's state superintendent of education. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2011/12/inspector-general-whistleblower-fired-for-reporting-controversial-metro-hiring-70849.html |
