Democrats, are you scared of Romney?

If Romney wins the nomination, he then gets to slide back to the center to go after independents and his record has been very centrist. Given where we are, and how bad Obama has been, Romney just looks so presidential. I think he could take this thing.

Romney might put the Prez through his paces, but I don't think he can make it past the primaries. Republicans seem to be taking a shine to Bachmann and Perry - and as much as my head explodes every time something comes out of either of their mouths - they have the type of personality that will get past Romney. My hope is that the American people will re-elect someone that actually has knowledge and brains in his head as opposed to cunning, so neither will get past the general.

Nope. After chasing Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and the rest on the far right, he's going to have a hell of a time running back to the center. The other candidates are going to punish him on his flip flops and he's going to go all in to win the nomination.

When he's done, we'll have a 2 hour video reel and that won't even count his gaffes like "I know what it means to be unemployed because I am too".

Independent here. As bad as Obama has been, after the treasonous antics of the TP, I will never ever vote for a Republican again.

I would be shocked if he gets the nomination. I can't see see the Christian right letting that happen, especially when they have 2 evangelical extremists to choose from.

Three - Bachman, Santorum and Perry.

Agreed. Mormons are not really Christians.

Liberal here. I don't think Romney will get the nomination. If he manages to, yes, he'll give Obama something to run against. And honestly, if he did become President, I wouldn't be upset. He's pretty liberal for a Republican.

There is no difference b/t them.

Romney scares me less than other three.

LMAO!!! ITA! I'd be ok with Romney. Bachmann? Perry? Santorum? Yes, scared of them ever becoming President!

Romney has no principles so it's hard to know what to be scared of. He's like the staypuff marshmallow man.

I'm a liberal who is not happy with Obama but expects to vote for him. I would rather see Romney as his opponent even though I think his chances would be better against the others. At least the nation would not be at risk of theocratoc disaster with Romney running.

Romney can't win.

He constantly makes mistakes that will cost him the campaign once the media starts paying more attention.

How about the time he reached into his wallet looking for a $1 bill and all he had were $100 bills?
How about when he tried to convince people that we need to feel bad for corporations because they pay 2% in taxes and the rest of us pay almost half if not more?

What middle class (are there any middle class people anymore) is going to support him? What person struggling to make ends meet (that's most of us these days) think he relates to us?

The religious right won't like him. Some Independents won't care that he's Mormon and might be OK with him but he won't excite the Republican's enough to come out.

By the way, I'm not so sure why people say Obama hasn't done a good job. My criticism of him is that he compromises too much and the Republicans have really run all over that. (Bachman still says Obama wants a blank check and yet he literally lets the Republicans write the bills these days). For people who don't like politics as usual, he has worked harder than anyone in our lifetime to mend fences and get things done. If he had a little more cooperation, I think he would have had a lot more sucess.

The Republicans don't care about the deficit (if they did, they would look at all options). Their focus is on making Obama look bad. They've been somewhat successful but their own reputations have been hurt just as much.

George Bush broke the world and nobody was going to be able to clean it up in 3 years. It's going to take a long time before the damage is repaired. Not one Republican has an idea on how to fix it - they just get in the way of any program Obama tries to put in place.

Bush left Obama a AAA rated country with an economy strong enough for Obama to waste a year on hyper-partisan Obama-care which will probably be shot down. GOP wants to increase the size of the private economy and shrink the size of the government. That is the best course for deficit reduction.
