We also watch The First 48 as a family. Living in an urban environment (DC) my DH and I want to make sure our girls, 6,7,8 and 9 understand the danger that lurks around when you are not paying attention. I am not familiar with the other shows you listed except for the Donald Trump show, blech! |
6,7,8 and 9? Holy crap...I thought twins was tough but 4 consecutive sounds brutal....but I bet it is also super rewarding. Do you think that having them be so close in age is going to bring them closer or drive them to the brink of some sort of Lord of the Flies/Deathmatch scenario? My sister and I are 2 years apart and were not close for most of our late childhood until we were legit adults...probably in our early 20's. Now we get along great but there were some times specifically in high school where we really didn't care for each other very much. |
I try and get her to watch Toddler and Tiaras with me but she hates it and goes off to find something else to do... |
......Wait what? How old is your kid. Mind you I think Game of Thrones is awesome, but it's a little inappropriate for a 7 y/o. |
Are all these on broadcast television, or do you all stream these or watch them on DVD? |
My daughter is 4 1/2 and she doesnt understand what we are watching anyway. She loves the wolves and the blond queen that married the weird mongoloid leader. |
Mythbusters is the one show everyone in the house likes.
We also have family movie night. My favorite are series, like Star Wars or the Pink Panther movies, that we can look forward to watching each weekend. Great winter activity! |
I'd like to suggest Gilmore Girls. Maybe not now but once she hits middle school. The series is over but I believe they play the reruns on ABC family. Great show that you can also get on DVD/Netflix etc. |
Futurama is an American animated science fiction tv show. I like to watch Futurama episodes daily. Its amazing. |
We watch Phineas and Ferb with 8-6-4 year olds. Funny, creative, shows a close family and no bad - snarky language. last year we wathced the last avatar (cartoon series) with older child - has some fighting, but great moral lessons. |
My kids are older (teens). We watch Modern Family, how I met your mother, and Real Time with Bill Maher. |
How It's Made, Food Network shows. This morning we enjoyed Five Ingredient Fix. |
With 10 y.o. DD who's a jockette -- baseball -- she's been watching and going to games since she could walk, and she could coach the Nats to a .500 season.
With 16 and 19 y.o. DSs -- The Office. Oldest is away at college, but texts about it. With 16 y.o., commercials are a great time to ask those questions he'd never answer otherwise -- "So, how was after-prom?" |
My 7 and 5 yr olds love Charlie and Lola - a BBC production that we've purchased on DVD. It's a lovely show about siblings who are 5 yr old and 8 yr old who are so nice to each other, but not in a fake way at all. For the past 2 months, the kids have requested that we watch Charlie and Lola episodes for our "movie night." |
Many of the shows my kids like, I can't stand. I think Glee isn't appropriate for most kids (although i like it alot).
We watch the Middle and modern family as a family. The office is good too. Our kids are slightly older (8. 10, 12). |
