The Rivian R3 looks absolutely amazing if you live in a city and want a small car to zip around in. Waiting for that one to replace our one ICE car myself (we already also have one EV). |
I have a Volvo C40. While I love the car and driving it (so zippy compared to my previous minivan), the electronics are freaking annoying and I am sure it is the same throughout the line. For example, this week, my "back up camera was unavailable", my Spotify wouldn't play for 2 minutes, and my mirrors didn't tilt down down upon going into reverse. These are all problems that occur randomly, with no rhyme or reason. I have 1.5 years left on the lease, and although I like the Volvo brand, unclear I will get another one unless they hire some better software people. |
There is a recall for the backup camera issue: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-recalls-defects/volvo-recalls-cars-and-suvs-to-fix-backup-cameras-a1089683372/ There may have been an over the air software update during the past few days. |
wow thanks. Volvo did not tell me this, wouldn't that have been nice. When i did some digging in the app, it says software updates are available OTA 3 weeks after they are released to the dealerships. The recall above says don't use one pedal driving until you fix this. You think Volvo would have told me this if it was really such a safety issue. |
We decided to lease our first EV in hopes that selection will improve (particularly SUV size) |
EV's would be more desirable to average consumers IF they
Made better looking sporty ones. Made them have longer trip distances than currently. Made them for half the price they are now. Made them to last longer than 10 years. Made them more user friendly to work on. Of course some of those requirements, such as the last three, should apply to all new vehicles. |
Ignorant take. |
We love our Ioniq5. We think it looks cool, but its design isn’t for everyone. We are planning to drive to Chicago in it this summer. |
Volvo is Chinese owned. |
Funny you mention Honda dealerships, because we recently bought one (DMV location) and had a terrible experience. Had I known how shady they are, we would not have purchased one. |
Not correct. The UAW endorsed Biden and NPR estimates that 60% voted Democrat. We Dems need to find better a way to support the working class and not insult workers to recapture the majority: https://www.npr.org/2024/02/27/1234114362/the-uaw-endorses-biden-but-that-doesnt-necessarily-translate-into-votes |
I really like my Polestar 2--comfortable and very fast. I have a level-2 charger in my garage so its always charged up for my commute and weekend errands. I did 600 mile road trip in February when it was very cold and range took the biggest hit. The car ate up the miles. Public charging worked well but takes a bit of planning. The trick is to ride the fast part of charging curve and then stop. I'm leasing to take advantage of the tax credit. I had a Model 3 as a rental car last week and the driving experience was a class below the Polestar--tons of road noise, crashy suspension, and cheap interior (although the seats are comfortable). Will look at the Ioniq 5 and Polestar 4 when my lease is up next year. |
Just got the Subaru Solterra Limited. Luv it. Essentially, the same car as the Lexus RZ450 for $20k less. Toyota and Subaru manufacture these together. |
Would you consider a Lucid Air? Made in Arizona. We love ours! |
Not OP but in the same boat - want to buy EV or maybe lease it and need AWD, why all of them are priced same - around 60K insane!! have tried Honda Prolouge - very mediocre , Ionic 5 - promising, not 100% sold on look, Lexus RZ - very low range, Kia E6, Volvo - total disappointment with interiors and touch screen panel, out of all of them loved Tesla Y but will not buy, people tell me to keep emotions aside but cannot and will not. might settle on Ionic 5 and wait for R1 to launch. need to decide fast, hopefully thinking through this correctly |
