Not to worry. DeSantis has already tweeted that "First responders are staged and ready to go .... search & rescue efforts will be well underway to save lives before dawn and will continue for as long as it takes"

there it is

Good news: the dog survived.

Holy moly that's a sobering read. Thanks PP

I’m dumbfounded on how anyone could read that article and then stay for Milton in an evacuation zone. All of those who does either made bad last second decisions once they had saved themselves (lady going back for the cat) or seemed to want to go down with the ship (their house).

The Fort Pierce tornado reinforced how random life is: many of those who stayed were fine because the path changed a little. Some people hundreds of miles away died in the most horrific way.

Were those the first responders at the Trop where the wind ripped the cloth roof off?

No, it didn't end up being used as a staging location because of concerns about the roof

It was clearly in bad condition if the roof just peeled off that like. I'd seen reports that it was the worst MLB stadium to begin with.

I posted upthread that my mom was in Punta Gorda and was staying put. She called to tell me all was well. Her house has no flooding, just a few palm fronds to rake up. Downtown PG is flooded but it floods with just rain. I'm so relieved that she is fine and that her house is fine, but I'm still really angry at her and its going to take a while for me not to be pissed about the risk she and her husband took.

It's really an awful stadium and they finally reached a deal to build a new one. But they are still three years away from a new stadium.
