Biden strikes out with King Manchin

I’m surprised Biden isn’t using executive powers to ramp up the pressure just a wee bit here. You can start by slow rolling the checks to West Virginia welfare recipients, of which they are many. Cut hours at the local SS office and post office. Slow roll Medicare reimbursements. Flood his office with stupid constituent complaints and you have plausible deniability the whole time.

...during a pandemic? You want to cut off food and aid to an entire state? How cruel can you get? When NJ's governor had his bridge scandal, Democrats came down on him like a ton of bricks. And all he did was delay someone getting across a bridge for an hour.

Manchin and Sinema aren't the problem it's the fifty Republicans who refuse to participate in governance.

Even the “moderates” - i.e., the crazies who manage to act normally - couldn’t be bothered. Unreal how the entire GOP is willing to kneecap America; it just shows how much they hate our country.

Revolution, my good man! That's how you get a f**king revolution. Don't be stupid.

Also that 'cut aid to WV' theory works to isolate one errant lamb from the flock and punish them in a normal Congress. Doesn't work when the lamb is really a wolf and can hold up any of your appointees, judges, diplomats, and administrators with a single look. Manchin has all the power and curiously - because of the separation of powers - Biden has none.

Wow. Just wow.

Hard to believe that a liberal here wants the president to take revenge like this on a Senator who disagrees with him by holding out on his constituents. But, we are seeing that this is how the Democrats roll. Take revenge on those politically opposed to "put them in their place."

PP - this is corruption, plain and simple. You are saying that you are surprised Biden isn't acting corruptly. Just wow.

2017-2021 are going to be LIT when you read about Trump. Do you remember him stealing PPE from states, for just one example, or does that not enter your mind?

Yeah. No, that didn't happen.
And, I do recall him helping out two blue state governors in CA and NY with emergency hospitals and other things like ventilators.

Sorry, pp. Just because you are part of a corrupt party that likes to take revenge and punish their political opponents, that doesn't mean everyone is like that.
Oh, and Karma is a thing.

Oh, please. All too rich coming from the GOP. I remember the GOP response to Hurricane Sandy- do you?

Besides, someone needs a reminder he’s not ruling the country. Happy for his constituents to give it to him, since apparently their approval means everything.

Hurting constituents during a pandemic....
Yeah well Manchin has already been hurting his constituents all this time by holding back BBB, so why the complaints now?

BBB doesn't exist anywhere but in your own minds. Meanwhile social security and medicare are real.

You realize without Manchin the Democrats wouldn't even be able to confirm appointments without asking the Republics nicely.

So yeah, go ahead and start targeting American citizens to put "pressure" on a senator you desperately need.

If the filibuster is so great, why don't we have other legislative bodies in the US do it? Is there any other country in the world in which routine legislation requires a supermajority to pass?

I'm willing to accept the risk that Trump gets his entire agenda passed without a fuss. It's the price of losing elections. I also think abolishing the filibuster would reduce tensions across the board as each side would be able to see their legislative programs put into law and attempt to create their vision of this great nation.

But if Dems can't say to themselves, honestly, that they'd be prepared for (say) a nationwide ban on abortion, or whatever the GOP wants to pass, then they might not be so eager to abolish the filibuster.
