Thanks for the tip, but I already spoke to BCBS about going out of network and submitting paperwork, and they told me I have zero coverage for out-of-network practitioners. I guess there are two tiers of BCBS Fed Plan, and I have "Basic," as opposed to "Standard." We'll definitely be reconsidering our carrier come Open Season.

My 3-1/2 yo should start going to the dentist, but I have BCBS's Federal Employee Plan and their search doesn't include anything for pediatric dentists. All of those recommended by, well, anyone that I've talk to don't take Blue Cross. Does anyone have any experience with this? We're willing to go to the 'burbs, but we want someone that's good with, if not specializing in, kids. Thanks!

I have gone to Dr. Barlow Lynch, who has offices at Washington Hospital Center and way the heck out in Greenbelt. I recommend AGAINST going to him. He regularly takes 45-60 minutes to see patients, his waiting room is full, and the fact that he works out of multiple offices means it's very hard to see him on your own schedule. Go somewhere else.
