Suggestion to jrsteele (administrator)

Hi,
It'll take some getting used to while navigating through the new site. I see lots of options - not quite as simple as the old site.

Just a suggestion - could you list the topic that was last replied to in the forum index? It was make it much easier to quickly see what the last posting is.

The index page is already quite long and the list of forums already includes a column listing the date and time of the last message posted in that forum.

In addition, if you are logged in, you will see that different icons are used to indicate threads with unread messages. There will also be a link a the top of forum the list of forums that will take you to a list of unread messages since you last logged in.

Whether you are logged in or not, there is a link in the left column for "recent topics". That will list the topics with the most recent posts. There is also a link for "hottest topics" which will list topics with the most replies.

Among all these options, I think you will find what you are seeking.

While we're at it, what about a "marketplace" forum for for sale, wanted, and offer posts? It would be nice to move those off the listserv. Thanks!

I'd like to see an option for "recent posts" in addition to "recent topics."

I'm logged in, yet my posts show as anonymous. What am I doing wrong? I also don't see any new options available to me as a registered user that were not there when I was unregistered. I get an icon with my name in the upper righthand corner on the Home page, but that disappears when I move to the Forums page. What am I doing wrong?

Oh, be still my heart. This is a dream that I've had for a long time. A "marketplace" is coming. I don't know if we will be able to stop the ads on the list -- well, without my being lynched, but we will be adding something to the website.

If you are logged in, there will be a link that says "Read new messages since my last visit". That will do what you want.

It looks like you are not logged in. Your post still came through as "Anonymous". Try logging in again on the main home page. Then, when you get to the forums, make sure you see a link on the left side for "My Profile". If you have logged in and still don't see that link when in the forums, you may have to quit your browser and try again. The main login sets a cookie which the forum reads to log you into the forums. So, you must have cookies enabled, but you couldn't login without them anyway. Post again if you still have problems, but include you username so I can test it (don't include your password). Or email me.

Still struggling, after restarting my browser and ensuring cookies are enabled. (I am also the yahoo who can't seem to figure out how to get Java enabled on her BB though so it may be I am just a technology idiot, despite being married to a technology first-adapter. I guess we each bring our comparative advantages to the table.)

You account looks like its set up correctly, but the forum is not picking up your cookie. At this point I am not sure if this is a problem specific to you or a wider problem that you are the first to bring to my attention. If you still have patience to resolve this, please do the following:

1) Let me know what operating system and version you have on your computer;
2) Let me know what browser and version you are using;
3) Try to delete any cookies for "www.dcurbanmom.com" or "dcurbanmom.com";

To enable Javascript on your BlackBerry, open the browser, choose "Options" from the menu, choose "Browser Configuration", then click the box for "enable Javascript". I guess some older BBs don't have the Javascript option, but hopefully yours does.

Sure, it's a slow day at work.

Widows XP Professional 2002
Internet Explorer 6.0

cookies deleted

I get my little logged in icon on all pages except forums (i.e. I appear to be logged in when I view events, topdoctors, mailing lists as well as on the homepage).

Humm, I just tested that combination with a test username and password and it seemed to work. I had to reload the forums index page to get my logged in status to appear (i.e. the "My Profile" link didn't show up until I refreshed my browser). It looks like you are behind a firewall or web proxy. That may have something to do with this problem. I am going to capture network traffic between you and the webserver and see if I spot a problem. I may have to change your password and test logging on myself, but I'll change it back when I'm done (I can only see the encrypted version of your password so I can take it out and put it back, but I can't tell what it is).
