This is correct. That said, they may tell you they won't hold the spot. You can also ask the other teams to let you know asap - and again, if they really want your player, they will offer the spot early. It'a game of chicken sometimes.

And now you also know why there's a tryout arms race to see who can hold theirs the earliest.
OP, all the clubs run camps- some more competitive than others. But regardless, come the fall there will be tryouts for ADP teams I think, as well as MSI classic, which might be a good place to start.
OP, are you in VA or DC/MD? At that age, go with the club that has the best logistics.

I can say that PPA generally puts new players on one of the lower teams at that age, but they also absolutely move kids up and down- so its highly possible that if your kid is skilled, they might wind up double carding on the first or second team by spring.

But regardless, go with the club that is the least painful commute.

We are looking at these 3 for our late elementary aged son who is very passionate about soccer and wants to take it to the next level. We have heard good things about other clubs but we are in NW DC and need to look at the places that are closest to us.

I am curious generally about peoples’ recent experiences with these clubs. Do they pretty much accept every kid but then the placement can vary? Or do they flat our deny kids?

More specific questions I have in case anyone with recent experience may be to help - where are each clubs’ practices held generally? Games? We are U10 if this matters.

Our child is really driving us on this and all of the info. out there is a little overwhelming - so any specific info. or advice is much appreciated.

find a coach that you like and go with that. Also, consider Potomac Soccer. They just got ECNL.

Both boys and girls? Their girls teams aren't particularly strong. At least not the years I have seen.
In simpler terms, yes, they are separate things and the National League is more competitive/higher ranking than the EDP league. But EDP runs both.

It's not confusing....

Curious to see how it turned out! How did you DD fare? Have offers gone out for her age group?
Just a note to say that if your son isn't offered a spot on the top team at Achilles, stay away. The second teams are very much treated as third-class citizens, with very little attention paid to them- often sub par coaching, not enough players for games etc. For top players who thrive in a cutthroat environment, Achilles is fantastic. But if not, go with another club. PPA or Bethesda.
Alexandria has a big Futsal program. Not sure if its year round?
But honestly, he can get the same thing just doing camps and clinics that focus on footwork.
Well, they go to 9v9, so there’s definitely movement. I know a few members of that team and it’s a really strong one. No way to know for certain, but the club does a good job on the girls side of moving kids up when they see potential. So even if she doesn’t make green right now, if she’s looking good mid season they will double card her and move her up for the next season.
What age group? How experienced is your player?
