Yes, you were wrong. The conversation didn't involve you and you inserted yourself to insult her. If you felt the need to intervene, there were kinder ways of doing so.
Does dad want to parent his kid or just see his kid?

For example, why are returning players guaranteed a spot and newcomers who are potentially better than existing players left with fewer options. Seems paradoxical and not great for the organization to keep mediocre existing players over new stronger players. We just moved to the area, and I've seen a few girls on the lower teams and my daughter who is defense appears much stronger. Wish I know how challenging this process is because I would have insisted, she try out for a different league.

Existing players were told that roster spots are not guaranteed.

This is correct. Current players are not guaranteed a spot for next year. Arlington does not have them come to ID sessions because they know these players and have been watching them all year and because if they all came to the ID session, it would be harder for the coaches to find/watch the new players. That said, if they are going to replace an existing player, the coaches are generally looking for a stronger player, not someone who it at the level of the player they would replace.

I'm actually getting concerned they're going to schedule a callback over the weekend which we can't do. Hope that isn't the case.

I have a daughter on one of the U12 teams (so moving to U13 next year). There are several girls who were invited to their practice this week to tryout. I don't know whether different girls will be invited for next week. I don't expect (but can never say for sure) that there will be callbacks over the weekend, because the teams don't practice then.
