It's college credits that are verifiable. Sometimes when you do trainings you can pay extra and get college credits (I got 3 credits for my OG training, for example). I believe that this qualifies. You don't have to have an additional degree in the +30. These courses then give you credit from an actual college that they have an agreement with, including a course title and # of credits. Not every training does this- it's usually a multi-day course (OG was 32 hours of training for example).

We bought a carbag rooftop carrier for our minivan on amazon for less than $100 and it can fit A LOT. And you don't need crossbars- we just used the side rails already on top of our minivan's roof. Highly recommend. We have one called the RoofBag, easy to find on amazon and great reviews!

What step/grade do you begin?

$53k for 10 months of work is not peanuts.

So you think $33/hour is appropriate pay for your child's teacher. That is peanuts.
This information is available for class of 2025 through the common data sets. The CDS have not been released for class of 2026 yet.

Bowdoin: RD 9% (852/9325) ED 263/960 27.4%

Middlebury: RD 13.4% 1601/11906 They break it down somewhat by ED1 and ED2 in terms of how many were accepted for each round, but not how many applied for each round (only the total that applied combined for ED1 and ED2). So 960 students total applied over both ED rounds, and 425 were admitted. That's an acceptance rate of 45%. However, of those, 380 were admitted in ED1 so clearly that's where the real bump is (but we don't know how many applied for ED2 vs ED1 so you can't extrapolate that rate). It would seem that if you want to do ED1, Middlebury is the more accepting school.

My APS 9th grader this year has read Romeo and Juliet, Odyssey, Catcher, Night, and at least 2 more I can't recall off the top of my head. They are certainly reading books in 9th grade English.
APS will have a new reading adoption for next school year so there is no information about how many books your child will be required to read. And some teachers assign students books more than others as a side assignment. So, there is not really a way to know the answer to this. But if you can presumably swing Langley, you could always go back to public and have a tutor for reading on the side, which would still be way less money than Langley. Does your daughter struggle in reading the words or comprehension?

It's overwhelmingly on Ipads now - even in elementary school - all of the assessments, quizzes, etc. No more paper packet sent home - just do more lexia and dreambox. All ipad. It will only get worse if people don't step up and ask to reign it in.

This is very school-specific. At my school we do not use iPads for assessments and quizzes generally. We send home plenty of paper student work. Almost nothing is done on the ipad that is a work product. We use them for lexia, dreambox, research, and sometimes review games like Kahoot.

While not directly related to BRAVE, is BRYC also fielding ECNL-RL teams for 2022-23?

Yes, they are only fielding ECNL-R under BRYC. Offers have gone out and ID sessions are still ongoing. ECNL will be solely under BRAVE.

Will they have any success in ECNL-R? whatever good players on their teams stayed on Brave and remaining players moved down to ECNL-R?

I don't know if they will have success. My son is planning to join the 2008B ECNL-R team from another club. He went to the ECNL ID sessions and said there were kids from outside clubs but obv most kids were VYS and BRYC kids.

Yes, one of the offers is BRYC. I know they didn't do well in regular ECNL this year, but next year they will do BRAVE for ECNL. We were offered ECNL-R. It seems that ECNL-R is more competetive than NCSL, yes? Most of the area clubs who have multiple teams seem to have their C teams in NCSL 1. My son is seeking a more challenging play environment, but again we don't have any familiarity with the coaches at either club with offers. He was also offered to stay on the current team next year, but there will be a new coach for that team too, that we don't know. So no matter what it's a new coach for him.
Thanks for the input. The C Team currently plays NCSL Div 1 and is in the top half of the bracket. I honestly don't know much about the coaches for the other 2 teams. They are further than the current team which is our closest team, however there seems to be other local boys for carpooling options. The ECNL-R team is a new team; prior to this the club just had ECNL which my son did not make. It is his goal to get to ECNL and make the high school team next year which is competitive.
My U14 son is currently on a C team in NCSL in a large area club. He is looking to join a more competitive team as he gets ready to move to high school next year. He tried out for 2 other clubs and received offers to play on both of those clubs B-teams. One team plays CCL and the other is ECNL-R. Any feedback?
