Out of those 4, I'd look at SYC and Arlington. SYC will be a stronger team but Arlington has great coaches. SYC tryouts for 2014 are next week, Arlington tryouts start this week. SYC MLSNext, Arlington ECNL. Check out both, see which team your son likes best. Good luck!

Last year, HS coaches took a few a MLS Next players for our JV and V teams, however, once season started a few had to drop out HS because their Club found out. Yet, here we are again. HS Coaches don't care but I'm surprise they didn't take note from last year. They could have given those spots to players who want and are wiling/able to be committed to play High School soccer.
Sounds like you should be complaining about the hs coaches then. If they know mlsnext kids dropped out last season, it's on the coaches if they want to pick them up again for this season lol.
Tryouts are mostly a formality, they already know who they want. You'll see the scout at games if they're interested in a kid or kids. You'll see him a lot when top teams play each other.

Not a silly question at all. I would get the slightly larger size and the backpack. The rest are optional and not really needed.
Which clubs actually drill during practice? Most seem to only scrimmage...
