The Loudoun Board of Supervisors proposed a move of these communities. Does anyone have any insight on how this may affect the real estate within this area? Schools?
Interested in any insight I might gain, as this is the first I have experienced a potential "re-districting". Thanks in advance.
More background and information is available via this hyperlink:https://loudoun.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=86&event_id=3366&meta_id=209149

Can anyone offer insights on how this may affect the schools? Hoping to gain some perspective on the "upside" and "downside" to this move.
Loudoun County? Southpaw Baseball and 15U Riverdogs
Insight on high school programs in Loudoun county (or is a move to Fairfax worth it)?
Thank you. This is childcare for a 7 year old.
I am looking for summer camp options for two children, ages 5 and 11. I work in downtown DC and don't have the option to work from home. What options have you used for childcare?
I greatly appreciate your perspective. My son will not be coming into the area until after the current school year finishes, so this is good information.
Moving to the area and my son currently participates in travel baseball (11U). We are not interested in having him play on a travel team immediately, but rather give him time to acclimate to the new environment. Finding a school with a baseball program will definitely peak his interests. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am moving to the area soon, and just came across this post. Can you recommend any good rental communities? Would you second the recommendation based in commute to downtown DC for work?

Budget? 2000-2200/mo

Where in DC? NW Pennsylvania Ave

Kids? Yes, elementary and middle
Are there MD suburbs that compare to Burke/Vienna/Springfield?

Anonymous wrote:OP if you are moving from Central Florida with a housing budget of 2,000 a month, it is going to be difficult on many levels. It's not just finding a decent place to live (which is feasible) but the cost of living is so much higher in DC than in Central Florida. Taxes are higher, food prices are higher, gas prices are higher, everything adds up. It's one thing to tolerate moving to a smaller or lesser place if your stay is only for three years before moving onward, but living in the DC area is going to be expensive, one way or another. Please keep this in mind because you may eventually realize that staying in Central Florida might be the smarter choice for your family.

Like many people in your income bracket and housing budget range, you are going to have to make substantial tradeoffs between housing and a commute. Most people end up accepting a longer commute in exchange for better housing with better schools. Many people on this forum abhor commutes but many suck it up and make it work. If working at Reagan you may want to consider taking the MARC train to Union from the southern Baltimore suburbs in Howard County and then the metro to Reagan. You'll probably find it'll add maybe another 20-30 minutes to your commute versus driving or taking the metro from a closer in suburb. The advantage of the MARC is that you aren't driving (or only driving to the MARC station) which changes the commute equation quite a bit.

Love this advice and appreciate the perspective. I am willing to make the commute. Unfortunately, I don't have a choice on the move.

Uuummm, thanks, but I don't qualify based on income limits.
Yes, they sure can.

My question remains, with regards to property taxes (car), commute, and state taxes is VA any better than MD?
Thanks for steering me.
Kids: currently in 6th grade and Kindergarten. Based on timeline, having a good high school and elementary is important. That said, they will need to be in school.

Neighborhood: we are homebodies, for the most part, but I like to attend festival and school activities with the children. I like diversity. I am moving from central Fl where we do have quite a bit of diversity. I prefer a middle class dynamic of professional young families.

My husband is a manager with WalMart. He is a but more flexible in terms of what he wants to do with his career.
