Maybe I misread the ABC News article but what I understood was that the milk producer was certified as organic by the USDA and all that has happened is that some private parties have filed a lawsuit alleging that the milk produced was not really organic. The article also cites some problems at the producer, but the USDA did not revoke the organic rating and it sounds like the problems were addressed. Maybe the milk really isn't organic, maybe it is, but a private civil suit is hardly proof of anything. And maybe I am just too cynical, but I would take the Cornucopia Institute's ratings with a grain of salt also since the Institute very clearly has an agenda ("economic justice for the family-scale farming community") that I imagine conflicts with the profit motives of Costco, Target, etc. But probably what you can take from this is if you want true organic products, you can't just go for the cheapest option.
Sorry to hijack the post. I still have a while before school becomes an issue, but the post caught my eye. My local school is Amidon. My child will not be going there. I'd heard about out-of-boundary before, but I heard it was not really possible to get into the better schools. But I am still holding out hope that I can make the OOB program work for my family or that Rhee will accomplish the impossible. If neither of those work out, I guess there is always the option of moving to the 'burbs.
I am also considering an elective c-section and posted on this board for advice on the old site. It became a very long thread with a lot of just people snipping back and forth at each other but there were also helpful people who shared their experiences with both c-sections and natural births. I believe you can still look up the old threads. Best of luck in making your decision.
Megan - Not an answer to your question but just wondering when you signed up. Am 3.5 months now, a fed living & working in DC, and clueless as to how long the waiting lists are. Thanks!
Am searching for a crib that has modern lines and is 30" wide or less (I really want to ability to move it from room to room without removing doors!). I've looked at everything from the stokke sleepi ($750) to the ikea tassa ($139) and my head is spinning. The stokke sleepi has not only what I need, but stuff I'd like (no drop side, wheels, dark stain, nice to look at, converts to toddler bed). But then $750 is a lot of money to spend and I think I can get the Ikea one, get a good mattress and stain the thing to match the furniture I already have in the room and be done with it for a lot less. Then there are the options in between, like the cub by netto and the oeuf loop. I'd appreciate any recommendations, it just seems like there are too many choices. Thanks!
I took the NY bar last summer and it was tough, but not as hard as any of my law school exams, though it was longer. My best advice is to just try to keep to the BarBri schedule as much as possible. There will be days when you can't keep with the schedule but on a week by week basis try not to fall too hard behind. Good luck!
