ECNL will copy MLSN biobanding rule to let 3 Q3/Q4 to play down a year. GA will lose elite Q3/Q4 players after 3/2.

This may happen or it could be more than three. I would say by spring season it will increase even more so everyone knows where they stand going in the follow year tryouts.

This will make for a crazy year with all players and parents going crazy not knowing where they stand. The top 5-6 players will be fine but the rest of the team will be wondering what is happening all year. The craziness will just lead to families jumping ship. Really they just need to do it and be done with it!

Isn't that the case often EVERY year? And this is more of PARENT thing vs. a kid one ... Top-third of a ANY team (safe AND/OR looking for stronger team elsewhere) ... Middle-third (sorta safe/content) ... Lower-third (stress/anxiety over future) ... So, of course there will be more movement IF there's a BY to SY switch as BOTH sides of age group switch, but all the talk is WAY overblown and forgets this is annual thing anyway.

If the team you are on is staying BY then yes this would be true for this year and next. But if you are on a team that will transition to SY in 26/27 then things will be much different in 25/26. Not only normal changes but the SY change over everyone’s shoulder for a year with additional Q3/4 players moving around on teams.

GA adding a tier 2 relegation league. Is that something to be excited about if you’re in the GA?

Didn’t mention anything about relegation. It allows for clubs to showcase themselves for future GA application review.

According to my daughter’s GA coach it will act as a relegation league. Top DPL teams will be able to earn a pathway to GA. Not sure if that means low performers will be moved down.
They want to get more club to join DPL which sounds like has been a hard to get new members and retain members as well.

MLSN is doing the same thing I believe with MLSN2.

What we will see is Ga clubs have their 2nd teams compete here instead of NPL and non GA clubs move over to this format if they want to stay BY.

Some leagues will stay BY some will go SY. The great divide is about to begin.

And some GA2 teams are currently USYS.

I really don't think clubs care at all about BY or SY outside of clubs that just don't want to change, but I can't imagine a club making a platform choices because of it.

Clubs don’t care. The leagues they are in do. Big difference.

Had a conversation with a few parents with kids at different clubs. Top clubs in areas probably get stronger with forced team player changes moving from SY -> BY or BY -> SY. So those top clubs benefit with this change every decade to shake up the landscape to make themselves stronger.

Depends on what your definition of “stronger” is? For example if teams were like high school and didn’t matter age just if you’re in the 4 year range the stronger team would be the one with all the juniors/seniors.

The only thing that matters is where the line is drawn.

We all just need to chill, especially until at least we know the details. THEN, we can act. In the meantime, just keep encouraging the kid to improve/help foster the love for the game.
