Washington Spirit - Ben Olsen is a Flawless Choice!

Could not be more excited about this choice. Someone who knows soccer, loves our city and will help positively shape the club.

Except that Baldwin apparently kept Kang in the dark about it, which does not bode well.

I like Ben but I would have liked to see at the least a few women candidates.

Goodness he must be really good with the politics. He seems like a great guy but has a really poor coaching record. 135w to 160L according to wiki over 10 years with the club.

I think it’s a great choice both PR and soccer wise. Don’t point to his record with DC United. He was very limited on what the club would spend as opposed to other franchises.

DC United is a cheap organization. The record reflects that.

Washington Spirit: “we are going to give opportunities to women and transgender women”. Hires a guy.

Three white men on their press release, again controlling the narrative.

Where is Michele?

What if *gasp* he is the best candidate?

What does Ben Olsen know about women's soccer?

Ownership makes crap coaching choices to fill the job as quickly as possible.

He's the managing partner. There's nothing to see here. The rest are investors. And there's more than 43 of them. If you haven't seen the agreement between all of them, you're speculating and causing controversy where none may exist.

I hope the new coach does well.

To be clear, Baldwin and Kang each have 35%. So lumping her in with the other investors doesn’t really show an accurate picture.

Clearly, the search for a new club president was exhaustive, many qualified candidates interviewed, and it is just a coincidence that the guy that organized the Clinton, Bush, etc investment group also happens to be good friends with BO.
