| I’m 38 weeks and 4.5 cm dialated. Haven’t felt any contractions. Haven’t lost my mucous plug. Haven’t had any fluid leaking. Nothing. Any idea how long I can be walking around so dialated without going into labor? I feel miserable and can barely move. |
Maybe a while, because you're dilated, not dialated. |
| Ignore the grammar police OP. This is actually normal for many women and doesn’t mean much until you start feeling actual contractions. I was 3.5 cm dilated with my first for a week and a half and 5 cm dilated with my second for 5 days I think. What’s funny is despite all of this my labors were still long. | I was walking around for weeks at 4cm dilated at 36 weeks. Didn't even give birth until 4 weeks later. |
| This happened to my friend and she was like this a couple weeks before she finally gave birth. Best of luck, OP! |

It could be a while but I was admitted to the hospital at 5cm for delivery. While in active labor I went from 4cm to 7cm with contractions that I could talk through and dance and have a party with. I aggressively walked the halls of the hospital like I was in some sort of road marathon. I did not start to feel any pain with contractions until they broke my water at 8cm.
You might be closer than you think |
| I birthed 2 children, both were 2 weeks late. In my house, I would have another 4 weeks. You are probably seeing the doctor weekly, ask them. |
| Unfortunately, you can still be walking around for weeks. I was 4.5cm with irregular contractions at 37-ish weeks, and I still didn't go into full blown labor until 39 weeks when my OB gave me a membrane sweep. |
| I was walking around 4 cm dilated at 37 weeks. Finally went into labor at 39 weeks. When I got to the hospital i was 7.5 cm dilated. Contractions had started but weren’t that painful. OB told me to go right away despite not being in that much pain. Nurse was shocked that I was at home this long. I gave birth 15 hours later so going from 7.5 cm to 10 cm took a while for me. |
Yep, me too. |
| It means literally nothing. Cervix checks before going into labor are pointless. Always decline them. |
|
Damn. It took me 24 hours of induction and 15 hours of pitocin to make it to 4cm. Really painful too!
My mucus plug fell out multiple times sadly- so that wasn’t an indicator either. Hang in there! Just prop your feet up and relax. Get your nails done |
| I’m 3cm dilated at 36w3d. Also wonder when will the baby come!!! |
This. I wasn't dilated at all at my OB appt. and ended up having my first child the next morning after 5 hours of labor. |
| OP here. Baby came! |
