It's like pulling teeth to get him to take one. DH says let him be.
Am I crazy or is it repulsive to have a 13 year old boy shower on Sunday night and not shower agin until the following Saturday? |
| I’m with you. |
| Your DH is tripping. He needs to shower - daily. No exceptions. |
| Daily is better because it’s a habit. I’m ok with skipping a day here and there but not more than one! |
| Our teen DSs take a shower every day, sometimes twice if they go for a run before school and have a practice after school. Even when they were little we’ve never had to fight about bathing. Teens boys definitely need to wash every day. |
| In summer with daily swimming, the shower might only be 2-3 times a week. But once the pool closes every other day is the most. |
| Mine shower every night without exception. |
| Absolutely every day before school. Boys that age really stink. Imagine you are stuck in a small classroom with 15 of them all day—it’s cruel to the teachers. And don’t let them cover it with body spray — that just makes it worse. Nothing worse than being trapped in a room with a dozen plus teenage boys who reek of BO and Axe. |

This is true story - once in 7th grade my mom got tired of fighting with me about showering and she said she was going to stop arguing with me. And I did go a week without showering and I did learn my lesson and won’t do it again.
That said - I do make my 7th grade shower daily. I feel like he literally never would if I didn’t make him. |

My 7th grade DS showers every night before bed on school nights- no exceptions. Exceptions for us ended around 5th grade (we occasionally allowed a skipped day at that age).
We might allow him to skip on a weekend night when he has early sports practice or something the next day anyway (which he will shower after) or if he swims etc in the evening. |
| And I find that once it’s an expected part of thee routine, the fights disappear. We had so many struggles when it was an every other day or a few times a week thing, and once we said “you need to do this every day so you don’t smell,” the fights went away. |
| Grosssssss |
| You kid is 13 and 7th grade. My 11 year old 7th grader takes one most days. |
| It’s a fight every day, but my 7th grader smells if he doesn’t wash his hair daily. |
