SSMA covid-related closure

An SSMA parent was in close contact with someone who tested positive, so school is closed today. Not sure why they didn't just close that classroom, but if this is indicative of things to come, it does not bode well.

That...makes no sense (on the part of SSMA).

Is their plan to close the whole school any time a parent, student or staff tests positive? There won't be school all year!
Anonymous
Oh good grief. It's going to be a LONG year if this is their protocol.

School started for some kids just yesterday. I think the others started Monday?

They closed the whole school? Because a parent was in contact with a COVID case? That makes zero sense.
Anonymous
Yikes, that definitely makes no sense. At the VERY most, the child(ren) of that parent should stay home and test/quarantine. But the whole school???

How are they ever going to be open at all, if that's the rule?

I wish my school would be this cautious!

SSMA apparently wants to stay virtual this year.

Go to SSMA.

OP, are you an SSMA parent or did you only hear this?

Either there's a policy that means they never should have opened in the first place because they'll never open again if following this protocol, or there's got to be more to the story.

SSMA will swiftly be closing for lack of enrollment.

I'm an SSMA parent. The email from the school said only the affected classroom would close, but when I arrived for drop-off I was informed that the entire school was closed.
