Loudoun Prem Cup 08 Girls

Anyone at the Loudoun Prem Cup and see what happened with the 08 VA Union team? They smoked everyone and had very lopsided results against a solid So MD Rush Kraken that I wouldnt have expected beating them 6-0 in the final and 9-1 in group play.

That VA Union ECNL team is a mix of the Mclean top team and SYC's top team- SYC probably had the stronger of the 2 teams before they combined- not sure how many are now part of this combined team now. They play FCV 08's this Friday at OBGC- both teams are playing up in the 07 bracket so it should be a good early season indicator of top VA dog in 08 girls.

It's because union is now one of the top 2 or 3 teams in northern Virginia.

Virginia Union had a friendly scrimmage with Bethesda over the weekend and won 3-1.

It was a friendly so I would still take with a grain of salt. Virginia Union is much improved from the Mclean team last year.

I honestly don't want to start drama, but there is a lot of chatter on here about FCV. I have a son so I know nothing of FCV but they seem to have strong teams in most age groups. I'm curious. They are tied to the St. James somehow, right? But they practice and play games in Loudoun, correct? So most of the players on FCV Loudoun kids or do they draw from a bigger area because....maybe they have some sessions at the St. James? Thanks.

This is second hand info and I have not seen the 08’s play so take it with a grain of salt. From what I heard the team totally changed. I think over 1/2 the team was replaced…maybe 8-9 players remaining from last year? Many of the players from last year are not starters on this team. They got players from SYC(5 or 6) but they also got other players from other clubs. I have heard they have a few other 08’s playing up who are not rostered on the 08 team.

Have not seen the 08’s play but saw the 07’s practicing and they looked tight. I imagine the 08’s will improve as they become team. McLean/union does have a proven system in the older age groups.

On the girls side- they have very good teams. Not sure exactly how many of them were developed in their program, but I know they are probably the strongest Social Media presence in the DMV. I think that constant contact in the area really helps recruit kids to the club along with their seemingly good coaching on the girls side.

I think VA Union will be one of the best - interested to see how they do vs. Pipeline as well.

Yes also saw Tupy the old SYC coach who did a great job coaching and building that SYC team is no longer involved. Sounds like what you are saying is correct because I thought the SYC team was better than the old Mclean kids from their previous team. Wonder how many SYC kids stayed at SYC (now SYC 08 Academy) after their best players left for the Va Union team?

DMV FC is Herndon CCL - who defected from Herndon and joined this new club. The club I believe has ties to Total Futbol and Nadir Moumen https://dmvfc.org/travel/ Bunch of teams from Herndon switched over. Hard to keep things straight

One shouldn't read too much into the goal differentials in what was likely the first games of the season for all involved.

But the reputation that Loudoun has regarding playing defensive and then direct would certainly account for such a different score line compared to the other teams. It very well could have been a close game on paper but a very entirely different game on the field.

Interesting re: VA Union. I had heard they had a bunch of new players/turnover (expected both at that age and with the new alliance with SYC). I haven't seen but maybe 1 former ECNL player on a lower team at McLean this summer. I know at least one player who was cut left for a neighboring club, and there are probably others based on the Arlington rumors. I guess once you get a taste of the ECNL badge, you aren't going to lower yourself to play CCL.

Who the HELL cares??? You still have time to delete this before FCV makes you look like a rec team this Friday. Nothing has changed both Mclean and SYC were weak teams to begin with just another middle of the pack team
