Boosterthon is coming back. Are the employees they are sending into the schools vaccinated?

I'm going to ask the PTA board, but I wondered if anyone has already asked about this.

Hold it outside. Done.

Goodness, are people still falling for that scam??? Just say no.

Vote those PTA people out. Boosterthon is a scam.

Eh. It makes a lot of money for our school. We can see what the proceeds are spent on around the school. And the kids have fun. It's fine with me.

No, you could raise much more on your own. I know, we discussed these things at an annual Maryland PTA meeting. And no, the kids don't have fun. Boosterthon is a horrible concept based on egging kids on, and making them feel bad when they don't raise enough. Of course you don't see the psychological harm it does, kids won't tell you. All you see is their brain-washed little selves jumping through hoops to raise money to give to a for-profit company. They take up to 50% of the proceeds, for goodness sakes! That's highway robbery.

Please stop.

Pretty sure you’d be welcome to take on the fundraising job anytime you want to.

We have two fundraisers. Yes, Boosterthon brings in a lot of money, more than our PTA-run one.

Everyone on DCUM hates Boosterthon. I'm fine with it. The kids like it. And our school has benefitted.

Please share what fundraising platform you use that has been more successful.

Only the laziest PTAs do boosterthons. Literally, the PTA has nothing to do. Might as well not exist. At our PTA, where most officers on the board work full time jobs, they still manage to fundraise successfully without those corporate scammers making money off of our kids.

Tell me you never served on a PTA board without telling me you never served on a PTA board.

The actual run, absolutely. But what about the pep rally and the daily huddles where they crowd the kids into the gym and show the videos and have all the kids shouting slogans? Has that gone virtual now? I'd love to hear from a school that has held Boosterthon in these weird new times.
