At our school with this, the kids ran small laps around only part of the field. There were too many kids for the area and over the course of the day it got so muddy that kids were slipping and falling and crying. I had little kids that year. They called the grade levels down in shifts to run. It was awful. Loud and crazy and way overstimulating for our many students with special needs (we have a center program). It was a lot of bs stuff during class time to publicize it, but it’s up to the parents to put the money out, not the kids.
I can’t imagine them all running and breathing and coughing and panting on each other this year. I’m astonished the school is doing it, and if I had a kid at the school I’d keep them home that day. |
