Air Bud is surprisingly good.
Black Stallion.
Parent Trap remake, probably original too.
Mary Poppins original.
Secret Garden remake.
The live action Disney remakes (Cinderella, Aladdin).
High School Musical 1, 2, 3.
Anne of Green Gables (Megan Follows).

Isn't the plot of Beethoven that the dad will shoot the dog in the head to test a gun? Maybe skip that.

There are some seriously traumatic ones in that first list (old yelled) but I’ll defend Beethoven. I don’t in any way remember Charles Grodin threatening to shoot Beethoven!!! He does complain a lot about the drool, which is fair.

I’d add Homeward bound voice by Don Ameche and michael I fox.

And the Pete’s dragon remake with Robert Redford as the granddad is really great.

BFG is also good and mostly real people.

The kit American girl is really great—Abigail Breslin and Stanley Tucci both star. The Molly one is also okay but Kit is the best of the series.

Newsies.

Agree Wonder is great.

There was a British movie I saw recently with the kids that was great called I think The Kid Who Would Be King.

Also, if you speak Spanish, we watched a great movie called Tesoros about kids in Mexico on a treasure hunt.

Also all the Muppet Movies are combo of humans and puppetry and are all great.

Re: Beethoven, I just looked up the plot and it's the vet, not the dad, who is going to shoot the dog. But yeah, I have a very vivid memory of someone pointing a gun at the dog's head with express intent to test its lethality.

Yeah, he’s the bad guy in the movie. He’s like the Cruella de ville — he’s kidnapping dogs for experiments or something (sorry spoiler alert). It’s mot that scary though, as far as these things go.
The bad guy in Chitty chitty bang bang is seriously creepy, and there’s this whole weird Bavarian interlude that is just too odd, but I still like that movie because I have a soft sport for dock van dyke and the title song is just so good.
