For Daytime?
For a Night Out? For a Dinner? Looking for some ideas to spruce up my closet, and just for fun. |

For all of the above wear what’s flattering on you. I’m a 32ddd- I look awful in crewneck tops. I look better in scoop neck or v necks, adjust the amount of skin showing based on where you are,
Honestly most women look best if at least your collarbone is showing. |
| I’m almost always in a v-neck because it’s most flattering on me. Not sure what time of day has to do with it. Unless you’re super conservative, OP? |
| V neck, scoop, or boatneck-ish. Never a narrow crew neck. Large chest, narrow waist...crew necks look horrid on me. |
It’s just something I’m really interested lately. My favorite overall is the boatneck, but I find that it looks best in more formal wear. I’ve just bought a few cowl neck tops, and couldn’t see myself wearing them during the day. |
| I am shocked at your implication that these change. I've always only liked v-neck, boat-neck and cowl-neck. |

No neckline. A wear only close up tops
I hate open necks and chest as I have some issues with my neck and upper back and cold air causes me stiffness in the area. |

Scoop or V neck. The the kind of v neck that comes up high behind the neck can look more formal, I like those. I don't wear a low V (just not comfortable with cleavage).
Crew necks are for working out or gardening. I don't ever wear boat or turtle necks. |
| I never wear cowl neck, mock turtleneck or scoop. |
I like boatnecks a lot, too. My impression is necklines are quite high right now, and that looks fresher to me. I have old scoop necks, that I used to love, and they just suddenly look dated. I know there will be someone here offering pat advice on neckline for a given bust size, saying this is a trend that shouldn't be followed. Nonetheless, I think higher necks look fresh right now, and I'm not going to overthink it.

Where do you find high v necks? I don't like low vs but can't find anything else! |
|
Yeah, you can't isolate the neckline from everything else.
I have several high crewneck tanks with cut-away shoulders and that look is very on trend right now. The high crew neck looks good because of the contrast with the very bare shoulder. For fall, mock necks are still in, especially in sweaters or sweatshirts. Crewnecks are actually pretty in but don't look amazing on most people. But again, depends on the item. I look bad in a crew neck t-shirt unless it's very fitted (just overwhelms me). But a lightweight sweater or cardigan with a crewneck looks nice on me as long as it's a little bit fitted. The drape of the sweater keeps it from looking too bulky. V-necks are never really out of fashion. If you have a long neck and/or face (as I do) boat necks are great because they break up that long line from your forehead to your chest. Whereas v-necks on this body type can exaggerate that line and make you look kind of gawky. |
Which you don't have to think about buying off the rack, there will times when a given neckline becomes prevalent, but the designer has taken care of the rest. I assume OP isn't asking how to alter her current shirts, just what to look for when buying. |
| I forgot it |
| low square necks are on. trend and very pretty and flattering in my opinion |
