How to Washington Gas to start/stop service

Anonymous
Help! My DH and I have been trying to get in touch with Washington Gas for several days. We have been on hold for over an hour each time without success! We tried submitting an online request but was instructed to call. I also logged on to their Facebook page. I have been reading dozens of comments about people just unable to get in touch with somebody, despite trying multiple times for WEEKS!! Does anybody have any suggestions? Can I go down to the office in SW? And, whys is this an acceptable level of service for an essential utility company? Has any reporter from the WaPO done some investigation into what the problems are? Have are local leaders working to help correct this problem? TIA

I had to wait for 3 hours before someone answered. I just put it on speaker and mute, and did other things while waiting. There wasn't much else I could do but wait it out since I needed to start service.

They are the worst. I actually had luck when I complained on their Facebook page… someone contacted me immediately after that

Thanks. Dh submitted va complaint on facebook. I've been on hold for nearly 2 hours but no luck so far. I have to get off at 630. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. This level of service is totally unacceptable.

We had this issue with our new house and literally haven’t gotten through, despite about four calls lasting well over an hour, and several emails. They turned off our gas, so now we don’t have any. We’re ok for now but I need this issue resolved by the winter…

If you get through OP please come back and say how you did it!

This Op again. I was on hold for 2 hours and 6 minutes then the line disconnected. Other people complained about this happening on facebook I guess I just need to be persistent. Has anybody tried going down the office? We will need gas if we want hot water so we can't wait until winter.

Hmm, I called on Friday morning and was on hold for 15 minutes. Maybe try a different day/time

Send them a direct message through Twitter. That is the only way we could get through to them.

Same. I called last week and has no issue getting a rep. My continued gripe with WG is their inconsistent billing.

Thanks for suggesting Twitter. I will do that tomorrow. This evening I sent a message via facebook and also posted a complaint. My husband filed a complaint with Dept of Public Services.

I think Washington Gas needs to explain how it plans on resolving these issues. Seems like this is a long standing problem.

Okay, just tried calling Washington Gas again and got disconnected one minute after calling. I am currently on hold AGAIN. I am going to send a message on twitter today as well.

This is OP. Success at last. Got to resolve the issue after waiting for over an hour. Total time spent on this task- 8 hours!

I was put on hold for 5 and a half hours! It must be a record. I just put my phone on my desk and did all my work while waiting for an agent. It worked.

Congrats! You have gas to your house now! It's nuts that a company can operate like that. I was going to suggest calling right when the lines open. I've had luck calling into other places like that. Someone has to be the first call of the day!

Have tv shows and other things to do ready for when you call. Just leave the phone on. it may take multiple hours. It took me over 2 hours to get through.
