Infertility Support and Discussion
| I had a very early miscarriage at the end of January and it has now been 9 weeks since my last period. My doctor said it's not uncommon to have a long cycle after a miscarriage, but it still feels insanely long. I think I would just feel better if I heard from other women who had a similar experience, because right now I feel like my body is all messed up. Also, I've been charting my temperatures and I haven't even ovulated yet. Is it common to have an anovulatory cycle after a miscarriage? I'm just so tired of waiting because I feel like I can't even try again until my new cycle starts. Any input would be appreciated. |
| I've had several miscarriages and my cycles were anywhere from 6-9 weeks afterwards. You're right - it takes a while to feel "normal" again. Hang in there. |
| So sorry for your loss, OP. It can definitely take quite a while to get back on track after a m/c, even an early one. Have you thought about trying acupuncture or vitex? |
| I had them monitor my beta levels until they were all the way back to zero and then it still took me about 5 weeks after that time before I got my period - so somewhere around 10 weeks maybe? I remember it felt like a really long time. Best of luck to you and hang in there - I know how difficult this time can be. Hugs. |
| I miscarried at 12 weeks and it took 12 weeks to get my menstrual cycle after my D&C. |
forgot to say that I got pregnant immediately after that cycle and have now an 8 month old. |
| I had the opposite experience and had a 25 day cycle after my D&C. I guess everybody is different. I wish it had been a bit longer. I felt like I'd just stopped bleeding and it started again. It also brought up all the sad feelings again because it was so soon. |
| I had a D&C in mid-Feb and it's now been nearly 7 weeks - was wondering the same thing and interested in responses to you. Hoping for good things for us both! |

Sorry for you loss, I know how hard it can be, especially when your body doesn't cooperate and help you move forward. I had a miscarriage in early January and didn't have a period until mid March. If your OB hasn't done any follow up blood work, you might ask them to check your hormone levels. My HCG didn't come down for more than 4 weeks, so at least I had validation for why I was feeling the way I was, my body still thought, on some level at least, that I was pregnant.

| I just posted on another thread about the longer than normal cycle I had after my D&C. And I don't think I ovulated that cycle, either. Good luck, OP. |

I've had 2 m/c's and both times did acupuncture afterwards to help me get back to normal. First time was a natural m/c and period back at 4 weeks. Second time was a d&c and got it back at 5 weeks.
I know I'm on the quicker end and am grateful for that. Who knows if acupuncture really helped but I would do it again if it happens again (hope not though!). |

I had a D&C a few days before Christmas and got my period about 7 weeks after. I remember how painfully long it seemed, but now having had a normal period after that one, I feel back to my old self and "on track." We are TTC again. Good luck! |
| Thanks ladies. OP here. I have an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow. I'm hoping she will give me a Px for progesterone, or something to jump start my cycle. It's now been over 10 weeks and I'm so tired of waiting! |
| After my m/c last year I had a couple very long and a very short cycle - probably took 3-4 cycles to get back to normal for me. |
| I had a missed miscarriage on 11/1 and had a d&c on 18/1. I've had a lot of irregular bleeding since then and got blood tests done at dr's which came back normal. I finally felt like I had a normal period on 01/4. Have used ovulation test sticks since then and they've been negative, had always had a regular 28 day cycle before my m/c. I feel as if my body will never go back to normal. Has anyone had anything similar? |
