| We're saving towards an important large expense so don't want to spend a lot of money, but we also need a new car. There's a Hyundai that's nice and affordable. I know 20 years ago Hyundais weren't great cars, but it seems like they've turned a corner. And they have an incredible warranty. The interiors seem just as nice, actually nicer, as a Toyota or some other regular cars. So question: Would you buy a Hyundai? If not why? What do you think of when you see a Hyundai in front of you on the road? |

FWIW, I bought a Hyundai about 22 years ago, and kept it for six years. I never did anything but put gas in, put air in the tires, and get oil changes. I only sold it because I was moving to a city where I didn't need a car.
I would buy again, but would just buy a V6 instead of a V4. But that was my purchasing error. |

| I had a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2003 Camry. Maybe things have changed a lot for Hyundai, but it was noisy, chintzy inside, and the exterior paint peeled, and we had more maintenance issues than with the Camry. When it was time to upgrade we sold the Hyundai. We still have the Camry and I personally will never buy a Hyundai again. |

| Hyundai (and Kia, which is owned by Hyundai) make way better cars/suvs than 10 years ago. Many of their models are regularly listed as having the lowest rates of defects in their class. Good luck trying to find a Palisade/Telluride SUV now. Hyundai is going upmarket with their Genesis line. |

I'd love a Telluride, but DH doesn't want a car that big, so we're looking at a either a Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorrento. Thoughts on those? |

| I think that Hyundai makes pretty good cars/suvs and offers great value, but based on my recent car shopping experiences, a lot of its dealerships/sales people are really terrible. If you read up on bad sales practices (hidden fees, bait and switch, weird added costs (like fees for nitrogen filled tires), etc.), I pretty got them all at the Hyundai dealerships, along with terrible service. I suspect that dealers are used to dealing with and taking advantage of people with poor credit, so they just treat everyone that way. Maybe, its just the car shortage. |

I have heard that Hyundai’s have come a long way these past few years so if I found one that I really liked - I would consider purchasing one.
They come w/great warranties. |

I've had two Hyundai Elantras in the last 10 years. Both were fine but I wouldn't buy another at this stage in my life. I haven't had any maintenance issues but the cabin doesn't keep a consistent temperature, the car has zero pickup, and its a noisy ride.
