I have 30 of these bites. I cannot stand it. Deet doesn't work. When do these MFers die?
I don't know, but warm compresses and cortisone helps.
Ice and benadryl are what I using.
The itch lasted about 9 days for me. It's been over 2 weeks now and the area is still red but doesn't itch anymore. I actually put a hair dryer on the bites to reduce the itch in addition to hydrocortisone. They were awful.
I read that they won't go away until first frost. That news alone was enough to depress me. I LOVE summer. I've stopped going outside because my bites are so bad. I had about 25 at one time, couldn't sleep for days due the itch. I'm not going outside and am still getting at least 1 a day. Right now I have 3 on my bra strap line on my back. I'm a laid back person, but this is just too much for me.
I'm using lidocaine.
Everything on my body is itchy.
Until first frost??? Nooooo!!! |
First frost dates for DC area: "Usually between November 8-28"
I read that bug spray doesn’t work. Only staying inside. Has anyone else used lidocaine? The one thing I’m seeing is that my body seems less sensitive to it over time. Less swelling, less itchy, and shorter duration (5-7 days per bite).
Ugh. My DD is getting pummeled by these during outside time at daycare. I send her in pants now which is already pushing it (asks for shorts every day) so I don’t think I could get her in a long sleeve shirt. Won’t keep a hat on. Really don’t know what to do anymore.
I've switched to showering at night and haven't gotten a bite since. Maybe a coincidence, but I recommend it.
Yes I'm showering anytime I go outside. Also, the name is a bit of a misnomer. I don't have ANY oak trees, but they're very clearly in my yard. |
Why is this? Do they get washed off in the shower before biting? |
Changing clothes as soo as you get inside and putting the clothes straight in the washer helps too along with a shower.
