S/O Surprisingly good Hollywood casting decisions

I find this happens when someone who is famous for something besides acting is in a movie and they defy my expectations.

Mine:
Marky Mark in Boogie Nights

Lady Gaga in A Star is Born

LeBron James in Trainwreck

Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love. This was way before Uncut Gems, etc

Melissa McCarthy in Can You Ever Forgive Me

Jake in Sixteen Candles.

I actually think they nailed the casting in the reboot of Star Trek

Tim Robbins in Shawshank Redemption. Before that, I figured he was just the goofy guy in Bull Durham and Top Gun.

didn't she produce this movie? So she cast herself. She is wonderful though, so funny.

Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. No one could have played that part so perfectly.

I don't know if Melissa produced it, but Julianne Moore was originally cast and dropped out.

I recently learned that Viggo Mortensen was the other actor they were considering for that role.
