| Your child was allowed to sit on the bathroom floor, taking on and off their underwear at preschool. Your child doesn't wash their hands properly, and this results in them eating soap for lunch. They wash their hands for 1-2 seconds. I saw all of this today at my child's preschool. The teachers aren't making sure the kids wash their hands for at least 20 seconds. The teacher was in the bathroom while kids were sitting butt naked on the floor. This has happened on other days I pick up my child, so it's not an occasional thing. |
| They give them soap for lunch? |
| And yet you still send your kid there. |
This is the first week! |
Yep because they eat with their hands, and they don't wash the soap off. |
| Welcome to reality, OP. |

Sigh. This is why daycares should be subsidized by the government, so that daycare workers can be paid more and you can attract more intelligent and competent folk to that career path.
Some countries around the world, like France, subsidize daycares to make it cheaper for parents while keeping pay interesting for employees, to ensure not only a basic level of competence in childcare, but also to attract more women in the permanent workforce. |
| Hey. I'm sorry. Makes me wonder where else they are cutting corners. |
This is OP. I was volunteering in this classroom all week. It's disgusting. The teachers need to be better at enforcing proper hand washing, and kids should not be sitting naked on the bathroom floor. I played cop all week long, but most kids are much better at washing their hands now! I find it sad they aren't being taught proper hygiene in school. |
| And this is why I stay at home and make sure this does not happen to my child. I am copying this post and sending it to DH anytime he wonders why I chose to stay home until our kids are all in school. |

It seems like washing hands too fast wouldn't result in eating with soapy hands, rather not clean hands.
The bathrooms of the preschools that I have been too are far cleaner than any adult public/shared rest room. They are usually larger spaces so that adults and kids can fit and maneuver so that part wouldn't bother me. The hand hygiene is also a bit on you to make it clear the right way for your child to wash his/her hands. |
OP here. Haha, I wouldn't know any of this unless I volunteered. The same thing happened at my other child's school, but he was in kindergarten. I think the teachers turn a blind eye. They need to overlook some things to get through the day, I guess. |
Nope, they use too much soap, so they still have globs of soap after they "dry" their hands. Often, it's after they use the bathroom and "play" with their pee-pee. Good times in preschool. |
| You are so overdramatic and that really takes away any ability to take you seriously. Eating soap? God, calm down. |
| You’re being ridiculous. Eating soap? No they’re not letting your child eat soap. Didn’t wash off their hands properly but you’re making it sound a lot worse than what it is. and to answer your question no I would not be upset if my kid sat on the floor to change their underwear. |
