And my OB says it’s just stress. She did lab work which all came back normal but I’m still concerned. I’m 41 and just had my last baby his last October. I stopped breastfeeding I. March and got the Pfizer covid shot in April and May. My cycles were regular starting in March and then they just stopped in June. Is this peri menopause?/ She thinks not but it’s so unusual for me. I fee likely body is gearing up for ovulation - egg white cm and ovulation pain at various points over the past few weeks - but nothing. The more I try not to stress about it the more I stress about it. DH had a vasectomy so there is no chance I’m pregnant.
Does anyone have any ideas on questions I should ask the doctor or additional tests or causes to consider? |
| Is it 45 days late or 45 days since your last period (so around 15 day late)? |

I've heard similar stories after the vaccine that ladies had weird periods for a bit.
But, I also had a baby in October last year and stopped BF in April. My period has been all over the place ever since, and I am not vaccinated yet. |

I feel like clinicians I have spoken to about my symptoms are not wanting to discuss. I've heard something like "there are no reports or studies about that right now."
But many women have reported light and/or late periods after the shot. Like me. Mine were lighter ever since. 2nd was late. But not 45 days. Somehow, it seems it is affecting cycles. I would not worry unless this change becomes permanent. |

Definitely possible it's the start of menopause. I assume you've taken a pregnancy test when you mention bloodwork?
My friend's DH also had a vasectomy but they still got pregnant anyway with #4 when #3 was just starting K. This was more than 3 years post-vasectomy. Yikes. |
| Did you POAS? |
she says since June -so 45 days |
No, not necessarily. July ended less than a week ago. Her last period could’ve been mid-end of June w next period expected mid-end of July and in that case it may only be 15 days (or 17 days if you assume cycles should be 28 days) since she expected her period. Still odd but not as odd as 45 days LATE. |
| Well, you had a baby less than a year ago, recently stopped BF, are stressed, and your are approaching peri-menopause. Your hormones are all over the place. I wouldn't expect everything to behave the way it used to be. |
Good catch. Two weeks late, you had shots, see how it goes in few more months before you worry. |
| I wouldn't worry about it. You are over 40 and clearly way too stressed. |

I usually skip a period in the summer, and this summer is no exception. I also skipped a period three summers ago, then got pregnant on first try on the next cycle (late August). Period came back last year (I breastfed for a long time due to the pandemic) and this summer the same thing is happening - I'm on cycle day 46 right now. It's not unusual to skip one ovulation cycle per year for a woman any age. Any more than one cycle and you'd be right to look into it.
The vaccine can probably cause some stress on your body, so i wouldn't outright dismiss it as a possible indirect cause but there is no mechanism of action by which it would specifically alter your fertility. Make sure you are eating and sleeping well and exercising and it should return. |
| This sounds within the realm of normal to me - but maybe if you don't have a period soon, your gyn could order a transvaginal ultrasound? That would help get a look at your ovaries to see what 'stage" of the cycle you appear to be in and it would also allow them to see if you might have a cyst of something else causing the period delay. If your hormonal bloodwork was normal it's less likely to be a menopausal issue. I agree with PPs that your body has been through a lot recently, and you've entered your 40s (a time of wacky hormones, according to my doctor). But at the same time, you should not ignore something that is clearly not typical for your body, so I would push your gyn to follow up if you are concerned. |
| I'm 48 and my period was wonky after both shots - 2 weeks late after first one, totally skipped a period after 2nd shot. I'm usually like clockwork, but clearly I am in perimenopause territory, I was indeed stressed, and I do believe some women experience period changes after the shot. Before I let myself get too worried I made myself answer "what am I worried about?" Why was wonky periods scaring me? The only answer really was cancer. And having a late period is not a symptom of cancer! Of course if you have a reproductive cancer your cycle may go wonky, but its not like doctors tell you to come get screened for cancer when you miss a period. So I made myself just chill and wait for a bit. Three or four months later I'm back to clockwork. Hope all resolves for you soon, OP. |
Yet? Like you plan to get it? What are you waiting for? |
