I don’t get the obsession with 360 degree camera

A lot of people claim this is a “must” in a new car. I’ve never felt the need for one in all my years of driving. Is it just for people who regularly park in tight spaces?

It's a must for people who drive vehicles with large front blind spots.

It makes it easier to make sure your centered in any parking spot

It’s for people who drive huge vehicles. There’s no need for one in my crv.

I live in the city and parallel park multiple times every day. I will never buy a car without one. It makes parking so incredibly easy and fast.

Plenty of people can do this without a camera.

Plenty of people get to work without a car all over the world, and yet...

Life is about incremental improvements.

It's one of those incremental improvements that can be really helpful. I appreciate it because the cars I own tend to have low ground clearance and expensive wheels. So it's nice to be able to see where the front of my car is when parking so I don't bump into the curb.

I'm pretty obsessed with my cameras. And they start beeping long before I can see the other cars or people behind me, which does make me feel safer.

DH has a full sized truck and I really wouldn't want to drive that without cameras. It's huge and I'm not used to backing up with a large bed in the back.

I didn’t realize how awesome it was until I had it.

The PP didn't say you NEED it to park. Just that it makes it EASIER.

Goodness you sound like my elderly relative who didn't understand why we needed email when she could just write a letter and mail it.

No. Most of the cars I’m looking at have the camera. I honestly have no idea when I would use it. In typical suburban driving, can you please give me some examples of when I would use it? It just seems gimmicky to me.

I just got it last year. I went from having no camera at all, to 360 cameras and oh-my-word what a difference.
Of course you don't *need* it to park and drive - but it makes things so much easier and safer.

So when specifically do you like having it?

NP. I like it anytime I'm backing up or parking my car. Which are the only times the cameras come on anyways.
